A UFO is Finished!

Hi everyone!  Last year my mom told me she wanted to make a quilt!  Yeah!!!  Now my mother is an organizer, a very good cook, a home decorator, a business woman, a wife, mother, grandmother and a great grandmother.  But has never been a quilter.  Well, this grand Lady has now made two quilts.  go Mom!!!

We talked a lot about color and what she wanted.  hmmmmm, Kansas troubles fabric came to mind.  I thought I would have enough fabric for the top.  We did have to buy a few fabrics to supplement what i had.  We also had to buy the batting and backing.  everything else from the stash.

I found the pattern - I think in a McCall's magazine.  it is a modified wedding ring.  It ended up being 82"sq.  so about 11 1/8 yards used.  pretty good.

My Dad and I cut the fabric.  Mom sewed.  I did very little sewing there.  she also sewed the rows together.  My friend Joann quilted it for us.  This past weekend I did the binding.  her 2nd quilt is at the quilter now.  She has done a great job on both!

I am claiming this as an UFO finish.  because done is done!  it's out of my house and stashed used.

Isn't it pretty?  I love it!

  1. Oh, I like this quilt too. I just acquired some white eyelet scraps from my mom that might be perfect for the centers. I guess I have another quilt to add to my wish list.

  2. I say WOW to your trio who made this beautiful quilt. For your mom's first quilt...fabulous! Always wonderful to finish!! Happy Hearts are Creative Hearts...

Hey, thanks for visiting! Come back soon.....
