time for a stash report

Hi everyone,  I know, bad blogger, not posting enough.  I have had a few little hiccups here.  namely I can't download my phone pictures to my flashdrive.  I send as jpgs, but can only save as files.  not good.  and my camera isn't charging.  sigh...  My talented son in law, is figuring out the computer problem for me.  I had to buy a charger for my camera and a card reader for the little card in the camera.  I have damaged the prongs in the camera so I cant insert the cords. and I have been under the weather a bit. no bigger, just not up to par.  so not too much sewing.

A Day with Friends

Hi everyone!  I am not very good at posting current happening.  I always seem to post a week or later.  That's ok, I am posting!

Mardi had us to her home to sew. early this month.  We haven't gotten together with Mardi for a while.  She has been in Michigan for the summer.  And I missed in October, because I was out of town.  So it was so nice to see everyone!

Mardi is had appliqueing and hand embroidering these blocks.  They are gorgeous!  I can't wait to see how she puts this together.

Cyndi belongs to a Jo Morton Club.  this is her current project.  soooo pretty.  She has the top and bottom borders to finish.  Plus another border I think.

I brought my go cutter.  we all wanted - or rather Mardi and I wanted to make a flag tumbler small quilt.  Cyndi and Toni were along for the ride!  LOL......  here they are cutting up a storm....

I prepped a candle mat.  It's from the newest Primitive Quilts magazine.  there are several projects I want to make.  I LOVE this magazine!

Mardi has all of her pinwheels done for the Boo quilt that we all have been working on.

Mardi has been working on her "I done my best blocks.

Mardi has a 850 or 750 Bernina embroidery machine.  Over the summer she machine embroidered all these blocks.  they are beautiful.

She also took a class for this snowman wall hanging.  He is just so cute!

Now most of us made a heart shaped twister quilt last year.  Mardi wasn't happy with hers.  so she cut it apart and made this twister stocking.  Isn't it cute?  Great job Mardi....

Toni is making a really special quilt for her daughter.  It is all hand appliqued.  She is doing a really great job.  I wish I would have taken pictures of the other blocks.  they just make you smile.

I didn't do much, other than get the candle mat prepped.  It was great company!

thanks friends....  hugs...

Sewing with Toni

Hi everyone!  several weeks ago - like last month!!!! Toni and I got together to make half sq triangles.  we each need 406!  We are making them like thangles, but we are using the program Triangulations.  Awesome program!

Toni had show and tell while I was there.

Here is Toni's Boo quilt.  Love it Toni!  you did a great job!!!

This quilt Pine Ridge makes my heart beat faster and my breathing, well, I am out of breathe!  I wish I would have taken pictures up close so you could see the quilting.  Jodi did the quilting.  if you live in AZ and want her number let me know!  She did a terrific job!  oh my, I do love this quilt.  it makes me want to make it.......

Thanks Toni for wanting to do this.  it would probably take me forever to get to them.  now they are done, and I can finish my top!  Yeah!!!  no pictures of all those half square triangles!  but there was over 800!!!!  mercy, we were busy girls......

I had two of these kits.  One I finished and sent for a table runner Halloween swap.  Now I finally finished mine.  It's only a year old!  LOL...  it's 12 x 30.  so I used 1 3/8 yard of stash.

Do you label your quilts?  I sometimes do, sometimes don't.  I guess I just get lazy and sidetracked.  I think I will go back and label, and I don't do it.  Bad quilter!  Well, somewhere I came across these labels.  Jennifer's Jewels  The prices are really good.  The service pretty darn fast.  The more you buy, the cheaper the individual price.  the program to set up your label is very easy to use.  I bought 90.  Think I will use them?  oh yeah!!!

So here is the first label I used.  On this table runner.  I used a Micron pen to write the year.  on the back are washing instructions.  It says Made with love and then my name.  On the back it says, machine wash on gentle, dry on low.  I have no affiliation, just one happy camper here.

Company!

Hi everyone!  last weekend, we had a couple of Bruce's cousins's daughters come to spend the night.  they came from Salt Lake City.

Analise and Jennifer

Analise served a mission for our Church in LA.  she has been home about 7 weeks. She served with a young man from here.  He has been home about a week and was talking in his ward during Sacrament Meeting.  Analise  and Jennifer came to show support!

They are really happy, sweet girls.  We enjoyed them coming, even though the visit was short.  After dinner we took the girls to see the Gilbert Temple.  The lights are on and it is beautiful!  the open house will be starting in January!

Our Halloween Party!

Hi everyone!  did you have a great Halloween?  we did.  We really did!  We had a houseful!

First off, dinner.  Yum!  We didn't have a really scary menu.  Everyone wanted to have the Low Country Boil .  I have posted about it before.  It is so very yummy.

but we had Blueberry Rickety Punch.  I did make some adaptations though.  It did look a little creepy with what everyone thought was eyeballs in the punch.  Oh how I love Halloween.  He, he, he, he,......  cackling laughter!

Here is how I made it!

  • 12 to 24 fresh blueberries
  • 12 canned lychees in syrup, drained, plus 5 to 6 tablespoons syrup from can
  • 3 cups grape juice
  • 2 cups 7-up
  • Ice
  • Directions

  • Stick 1 to 2 blueberries, depending on their size, into the cavity of each lychee. Place on a foil-lined baking sheet and freeze, about 1 hour. (Wait until the "eyeballs" thaw a bit before eating, so that you don't choke on them.)

Stir together 5 tablespoons of the lychee syrup, and the grape juice in a bowl or pitcher until combined. Stir in the 7-up and add the lychee eyeballs. If it is a bit tart for your taste, add the remaining tablespoon syrup.

I serve it in a punch bowl.  it was pretty good!  did I get a picture - no, sorry

We had our annual loot party.  I let the adults go first to pick some things.  Don't worry, they only took a couple of things. there was plenty left for the kiddos!

You have to understand, this is really a tough decision for these kiddos to decide!  They have to pick just the right thing!  So Jenn timed them.  it's a rough life you know........

Here are some of our grands....  Where was Gunner?  hmmmmm.....

this was a father and son in the neighborhood.  I have no idea who.  But their costumes were awesome.  we saw them coming up the street.  This little guy was having fun.  So was the Dad....

Can't believe I have to wait a whole year for Halloween to come back.  I wonder I will think up for next year.......

    hugs.....

A little bit of Shopping Therapy!

Hi everyone!  there is nothing better than spending a day with friends!  Maybe it's spending the day with friends, shopping AND lunch!

Me, Mardi, Toni and Cyndi!  Does that look like trouble?  of course not!!!  But it does look like fun.

1st stop?  Olde World Quilt Shoppe in Cave Creek.  I love the look of their store.  It's like a comfy quilt.  you can just feel the warmth surround you when you walk in....

I was a pretty good girl.  I have wanted this twister pumpkin pattern forever!  a cute little Christmas penny rug and some wool.  I also bought the newest primitive magazine.  I think I might have to get a subscription.  I truly love that magazine!

Next to Le Grande Orange  Oh my, their food is so good.  I always have to bring home some English muffins from there.  Bruce loves them.  and they are HUGE!!

Cyndi had a chicken salad. It was so pretty and yummy!

Mardi had a salad.  she loved it.

I had a veggie sandwich.  WOW!!  Yummy!

We also shared a slice of olive oil cake.  hmmmmm, it had some citrus in it.  it was very moist and good.  we enjoyed it.

Toni had a pastrami sandwich.  I have had it and Toni really enjoyed hers.

Then off to 3 Dudes.  Always a fun shop to visit.  I have been thinking I need a new purse.  So I think I found the perfect fabric and pattern.  and some bug fabric.  I need for a swap!  So about 3 yards of fabric.  not too bad!  yeah!!!

Thanks for such a fun day girls!  love ya lots!!!!!
