Something Wicked this way comes.......

It's my turn!  Yeah!  I am so excited.  Thank you Madame Samm and Wicked Wendy for all the work and organizing you have done for us!  Be sure to check out madam Samm, cuz there is a give away there for sure, a really good one!

WARNING!  lots of pictures.......

Oh how I love Halloween.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Halloween!  I love old scarey movies.  I love all the chocolate and smarties!  I love walking with the grands to go trick or treating.  And I love having the neighborhood kiddos come trick or treating to our home.  Even those teenagers with their pillowcases!

So the Wicked blog hop is almost over and its has been AWESOME!!!!  so many new ideas I want to do......  So here is my take on Wicked!

I told you last month that Vicki and I got together to sew, sew, sew.  so since then, I have been finishing, finishing, finshing!  LOL.....

First off, a UFO #1!!!  Vicki and I did this top from a couple of years ago.  all from our stash.  lap size. 50 x 70, 6 1/4 yards used.

Next up is a pattern from BHG It's called Pretty Pumpkin Tablecloth for fall.  I tea dyed the muslin we used and had lots of Black wool, so I kitted it out for the both of us.  Love it.  It was not a UFO.  but it is finished!  NP (new project) #1

Next up, pincushions!  yeah!  Love pincushions.  My friend Charlene surprised me with this pattern!  it came with the wool.  Thank you Charlene!  I love them.
there was wool in the kit to make 4 cats.  I shared with Vicki while in Williams.  thank  you Charlene!  they were fun to make and super easy.

The bat pincushion is called  Sew Batty .  found that at Monica's bead and quilt shop in Palm springs.  He has soooo much personality.  Love him! NP #2, 3, and 4.

Next is my October wool BOM:  I have loved this BOM.  each month I so look forward to my envelope coming in the mail.  it doesn't take long to work it up.  And the buttons.  Oh. My. Goodness!  they are porcelain.  they are just beautiful.  UFO #2

The skeleton gloves were a gift from Vicki!  Love them.  My grands are so jealous.  LOL.......

This is from Primitive Stitches . Be careful it's a wicked place!  Wicked good!!!!! I loved making this project.  Super quick and easy.  However I did not want to do a satin stitch for the spider.  I used 2 buttons!   Not a UFO.  NP #5

this quilt I have been wanting to do since 2010!  does that make it a wannabe UFO?  Toni and I got together several months ago and made kits for our friends.  Charlene and Toni have theirs done - quilted, bound and hanging up!  I just have my top done.  but I love it none the less.  it's from the Quilt Sampler Magazine Fall 2010.

This quilt is from Quilts and More Fall 2013 Magazine.  This was a project Vicki and I worked on together.  It was a little more work.  but I love the way it turn out.  Needs to be quilted.

I have fallen in love with this pattern.  do the hustle  Super duper easy.  It ends up being a lap size quilt.  This was a last minute, decide we had to do it, had the charms already quilt that Vicki and I wanted to do.  Still needs to be quilted.

Does this quilt make you smile?  Charlene and Toni found this pattern and thought I needed it!  hmmmmm.......  YEAH!!!  I immediately called Vicki and told her we had to do this quilt.  We decided to pool our Halloween fabric, we already had the background.  And while we were in Williams, we went for it.  Click on the picture and it will enlarge it.  You will see the witches shoes and hats in the borders!  Which Witch? goes to the blog.  scroll down and you will see a Christmas version, which is also in the pattern.  Way too cute!!!

Oh my, do you think he likes my dish towel?  Happy Halloween TeaTowels  from Bird Brain of course!  I think it was last month Cyndi, Toni and I went down to the Tucson show.  Bird Brain was there and so I bought some tea towels and this cute pattern.  So easy to make.  NP #6

OK, last picture!  promise!!!!  I made this top probably 4 or 5 years ago.  I am sorry, I can't find the pattern.  So I don't know the name of it.  I remember when I first saw it, I immediately thought of Halloween fabric.  The ghost in the border will glow in the dark.  lap size!  it's 48 x 60. 5 1/4 yards used from stash.  UFO #3.

Now for the give away!  who doesn't love a give away?  I LOVE give aways!  I am giving one of the cat pincushions.  I only ask that you follow my blog.  Please make a comment about what your favorite thing is about Halloween.  US residents only please.  Sorry but the pin cushions are heavy.  I will use a random generator to pick a name.  I will do this on Friday.  Good luck everyone!!!  You know I feel bad about saying US residents only.  So if I pick someone from another country, I will send them something too.  not sure yet, but it will be cool.  So we will see how the numbers go.  Thank you all!

Here is the schedule for Tuesday.  Enjoy!  Have fun and leave lots of comments on their blogs.  it's like a pat on the back.  Makes us feel warm and fuzzy!

La Quinta, CA

Hi Everyone!  I thought I would share a bit about our trip to La Quinta, CA.  Next to Palm Springs.

Every year, we go on a business trip to La Quinta.  It's a huge resort - a golfing resort.  Both Bruce and I do not golf or watch it, but I understand this is a great place for golfing!  La Quinta has over 40 + pools!  It's a beautiful place.  Very relaxing.

This time our room was enclosed with a wonderful patio area!

Our room:

My husband's business is a chain of convenience stores.  He has been in the business all of our married life.  38 years!  He has his own company now.  Coremark is a company that supplies groceries for our stores.  Once a year they bring us together with vendors so that we can buy what we want for the next year.  good for us, good for Coremark and good for the vendors!

Most of the business part of our trip, meals, just about everything is around the Eisenhower Pool and Room.  Apparently Dwight and Mamie had there own suites there.  And yes Mame had her own bedroom.

One of the Coremark people took me into Ike's bedroom!  it was stuffed to the gills with furniture.  Because everything was stuffed in there to make room for the samples. Sorry about the picture.   the bed is beautiful.  Didn't get to see Mamie's room.  there have been a lot of celebrities who have stayed at La Quinta.

This year was a bit of adventure for me.  We got in late Monday night.  On Tuesday as I was sitting up everything, I realized I didn't have my cord for the internet.  Walgreens was the closest store, so off I went.  bought my cord, came back to the room and the key wouldn't work.  got back into the car (the main building was far enough away, I didn't want to walk).  got new keys.  one of the bell boys wanted to go back with me to the room to make sure the key would work.  as we were walking back to my car, on the cobblestone type of road, I tripped and fell.......  sigh.... really? in front of all these people?

The other knee is fine, just bruised.  they called security, had a paramedic (they have their own!) She doctored me up.  I don't think I have skinned my knee for a very long time - like years!!!  They wouldn't let me drive back to the room.  So a bell boy drove the car back, I was taken in a golf cart.  The key worked great and I was told to keep it away from my phone or computer.  ok......  I opened the cord I had bought and it was the wrong one.  What?  I was not going out again.  by that time it was lunch and I needed to be on the other side of the resort.  Had to call for a golf cart to take me.  Came back to room, and the key wouldn't work!  What?  There were some landscapers by the room and I talked to them.  They called and had someone bring new keys.  again I was told to keep the keys away from electronics.  It had demagnetized some how.

The next day again had to get golf cart to take me to lunch, again the key wouldn't work when I got back!  I was starting to think something was wrong with me!  LOL.......

I did enjoy my trip.  no interruptions, no phone, no internet.  Just some shopping, sewing, and  quiet time. Coremark took good care of us.  It is nice to be home though.  No problem with electronics here!  LOL......

hugs....

A fun lunch with my family

Hi everyone!  over the weekend the girls in the family got together to have lunch.  We haven't done that for so long.  It was nice to get together.  My parents, my aunt and mother in law, all leave town for cooler weather.  I don't blame them.  I go and visit anywhere where it is cooler!

We went to  Joe's Farm Grill .  it was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Driveins and Dives.  So very good.....

The weather was perfect!  the company was awesome.

My lunch.  a portebello mushroom sandwhich with Asian slaw.  the only thing not eaten?  the tomatoe!!!!  yuck!  in my opinion.  no body elses.  I do not like raw tomatoes.

Barbie - Ronny's Bride and my daughter Jenn.  don't they look like sisters?

And I would like to think we tired Lexi out.  but I think she got bored with all the talking going on.

OK, the next 2 pictures are something I do a lot of.  I like taking pictures of textures.  Is that weird?  No, don't tell me.  I find it interesting......

there were these LARGE tamarack trees right next to where we were sitting.  I couldn't even wrap my arms around the trunk.  They were HUGE!  Isn't the texture fascinating?  hmmmmm..... I think so......

Next, looking up through the branches with the sun shining through.

Ok, enough of strange pictures.  Have a great week!

hugs.....

A Pouch Swap

Hi Everyone!

a month or so ago, Kim at lily patch quilts hosted a pouch swap.  Well,  I decided to join!

I had the privledge to exchange pouches with Cathy who lives in France!  how cool is that!

Cathy and I wrote back and forth learning what we each liked.  Cathy loves civil war fabrics.  I had this idea to find some really pretty civil war fabric, keep the pouch very simple and fill it with everything you would need to bind a quilt.  I pictured a hard working pouch!  LOL..

Of course, I had to include my favorite candy bar!  a FQ of more civil war fabric, some quilting playing cards and some AZ pictures.

Here is what I received from Cathy!

isn't the pouch beautiful?  oh, I how I love it!  the 2 smaller are sachet, lavender sachets.  And how lovely they smell.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Cathy.

And thank you Kim for hosting!  Kim has made a pinterest board of the pouches.

Shark Frenzy

Cyndi and I haven't been able to get together for awhile.  traveling, appointments, etc have gotten in the way.  life happens.....

So a few days ago, we decided to go to  Attic Needlework.  We needed some candy corn buttons.  They always have the cutest polymer clay buttons.  All the different holidays.  I could just sit and look and want to use them all.

Well........  we found our buttons.  Cyndi found the cutest pillow!

Don't you love it?

We have to make it!  And then we looked at the thread.  Why do we do that?  beautiful, hand dyed thread.  oh my.........  oh dear!

I found some black, witches feet scissors!  How perfect to use on all my wicked projects for the blog hop!  Oh dear!  Oh my.........

So the title of this entry is Shark Frenzy.  Have you gone shopping with friends, or to a quilt show.  the temptation is so high.  And you buy!  I am not blaming Cyndi!  I was a bad girl!  Our poor hubbys.....  Cyndi and I always have a great time.  Our pocketbooks might hurt from time to time, but we don't discourage each other. And we have some great projects!!!!  There is no way I can get this pillow done for the Wicked blog hop.  But it is ok.  I will get it done.  My fingers are itching to start it.  but I have a few other things that need to get done first....  I can not start it now!  I must not start it now.  Too many other things have to be done.

Don't you love those scissors?  I will use them all month.  they will make me smile every time I use them.  I will have a hard time putting them away on November 1st.

hugs.....

PS.  I know I said I am not going to start it.  but.......  I had a dental appointment and took it along to just do a little.....

When I go and get the car washed in the next day or so, I will take it with me and work on it while I wait. when I pick up the grands at school, I can work on it.  While traveling in the car - while Bruce drives, I can work on it.   I will not work on it at home.... I will not work on it at home.....  I will not work at it at home.....  LOL.....

Oh boy! Here I go again......

Hi everyone!  I think I have mentioned that I try and cut up scraps.  I store them in a old pattern cabinet.  Each drawer has 3 divided sections.  My 2" sq drawer is over flowing.  So I started making the Scrappy Cheddar Quilt  on the Tattered Garden Blog.  I know I have duplicate fabric in what I have sewn together so far.  but not many.  I traded 100 squares with a couple of friends.  then I found The Curious Quilter  She is hosting a swap of 1.5", 2" or 2.5" Squares.  She suggested that you cut your squares first, then sign up.  there is still a few days left if you are interested.

Can you believe that is 800 squares?  and guess what?  my drawer is still full.  sigh.......  I think they  reproduce in the dark.

So if you have any good scrappy ideas, I am open  to suggestions.  right now my energy is going to the 2" squares.  but my 1.5" and 2.5" drawers are full too.  so I see lots of leaders and enders in my future.

Why do I love to make these scrappy quilts?  I consider them free quilts.  no fabric was purchased for these squares.  only scraps!  wow!!!  free quilts!  it makes me smile......

hugs.....

Bunny, bunny soft and sweet

Hi everyone!  the other day, I picked up Zoe from school.  we had about 45 minutes before we had to pick up Lexi.  So I went to a office building close by and parked way back in the corner.  there is shade and it's quiet.  Zoe got out her home work and started working on it.  Me?  I was reading.  I look out the window and this is what I saw:

a little rabbit. a cute little bunny rabbit. not sure if it was a jack rabbit.  Go Jack Rabbits!  (sorry, I digress.  Our mascot was a Jack Rabbit in high school....)  It was so still.  Probably a little frightened of my big car.  It stayed there for about 20 minutes.  Zoe and I were whispering back and forth.  We just wanted to watch it.  Actually, Zoe wanted to get out of the car and pet the bunny.  After a while,  it hopped away into the field by the office.  and was gone from our sight.

it was a nice way to spend time with Zoe.

hugs......
