I can't believe it's been 3 years!!! where has the time gone? I have been here. there has been a lot going on. some healing, some sickness, some figuring out stuff. But I am here and ready to go. this feels good trying to blog again. <br />
<br />
So today is January 1, 2019. my goodness, 2019. that sounds so furturistic to me. I have lots of plans for the new year. but I think I will just share my quilty goals. <br />
<br />
I LOVE starting new projects. I don't buy magazines very often any more. I have a gazillion and I never look at them. I will see a picture on facebook or pinterest and it's like...... SQUIRREL! I have to do that. there are so many taleneted quilters out there. amazes me. <br />
<br />
so this year, I will try very hard to NOT start new projects. I know that probably won't happen. but I can dream. <br />
<br />
so today while hubby worked and watched football, I sewed. and sewed. and sewed. I haven't had a lot of those days at all. One goal I have is on the first of every month, make sure I have loaded a quilt on my HQ. check! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cDUhLGec6no/XCwWtzmjajI/AAAAAAAAJvQ/POiFJSBc0yU1qBY5r17UWKGVK6gy0RnFACLcBGAs/s1600/flag%2Bquilt.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cDUhLGec6no/XCwWtzmjajI/AAAAAAAAJvQ/POiFJSBc0yU1qBY5r17UWKGVK6gy0RnFACLcBGAs/s320/flag%2Bquilt.JPG" width="240" /></a>I just have to baste everything, then I can start quilting. I think I will just do wavy lines. this one is only a couple of years old. I started this one with some friends. We used my Go! and the small tumbler die. this is a wall hanging. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yesterday I pieced and quilted this pumpkin. My friend Toni gave me all the pieces. I only took a few months to sew it together. this morning I did the binding. My first finish for 2019! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t-74p-3sobU/XCwX7mBdFvI/AAAAAAAAJvc/Ygcdk_ywM74ZLTKLXNHPB_GYDelhO5KpACLcBGAs/s1600/label.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="330" data-original-width="440" height="150" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t-74p-3sobU/XCwX7mBdFvI/AAAAAAAAJvc/Ygcdk_ywM74ZLTKLXNHPB_GYDelhO5KpACLcBGAs/s200/label.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
this is the back. I put these labels back. the side showing is my name on the back is how to launder it. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--tW__LPnY7s/XCwX9w6omrI/AAAAAAAAJvg/PxYGYuKo4ig0xorerwfC9jxva0a-YCajgCLcBGAs/s1600/pumpkin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="517" data-original-width="388" height="200" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--tW__LPnY7s/XCwX9w6omrI/AAAAAAAAJvg/PxYGYuKo4ig0xorerwfC9jxva0a-YCajgCLcBGAs/s200/pumpkin.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
this is the front. it doesn't look like its quilted, but I promise it is! thanks Toni!!!!! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-og-jy6402gs/XCwZE-vf8WI/AAAAAAAAJvw/-DgUEWEpUuwp-zWHABpmz9N5SLkgcvKtwCLcBGAs/s1600/todays%2Bprojects.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-og-jy6402gs/XCwZE-vf8WI/AAAAAAAAJvw/-DgUEWEpUuwp-zWHABpmz9N5SLkgcvKtwCLcBGAs/s320/todays%2Bprojects.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
this is some of what I am working on. I get borded easy, so lots of things pass thru while I am sewing. I love it and it seems to work for me. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0-A4CooTn5c/XCwZmP2pzyI/AAAAAAAAJv4/l0jNZQa_7okRvX9NQdNEo9ZwZcdYRE2wQCLcBGAs/s1600/my%2Blist.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0-A4CooTn5c/XCwZmP2pzyI/AAAAAAAAJv4/l0jNZQa_7okRvX9NQdNEo9ZwZcdYRE2wQCLcBGAs/s320/my%2Blist.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Now you probably are thinking I am crazy. Too many sticks in the fire type thing. But really I get a lot done this way. I like to keep track of what I do. I like checking off things. I also like keeping track of how many bobbins I go thru - 60 last year! how many spools of thread - 4. And every 5 bobbins I clean and oil my machine. I think by keeping track of everything, things don't get lost in the shuffle, so to speak. <br />
<br />
Well, that enough for now. I will be back in 2 days, or thats the plan, Sam. Wish me luck. It's going to be a great year! Hugs for now.....Lorene Holbrookhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16960577282658406134noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1703736476992960568.post-71084829207715439132015-12-06T13:32:00.000-07:002015-12-06T13:32:28.708-07:00I am back, kind of......<br />
Hi everyone. Life, it gets busy. there is happiness. there is sorrow. there are adventures and there are quiet times......<br />
<br />
Yesterday, we buried our 7 year old granddaughter. Sorrow...... My daughter in law was driving a truck. a semi carrying a load of scrap metal blew a tire and lost control. <a href="http://www.localnews8.com/news/i15-crash-that-killed-a-child-under-investigation/36652788">crash</a> it crossed over in the oncoming traffic and hit the truck. Our Maddy died in the crash. Our daughter in law, sustained a bad ankle injury. The grands, minor scratches and bruises. It was a miracle that Elena and the children were spared. <br />
<br />
How thankful we are. How sad we are. There have been so many tender mercies shown to our son and his family. there is a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/HolbrookFamilyFund">go fund account</a> set up for them. dinners brought in, projects finished for them, presents for Christmas, and the list goes on. the community has been wonderful. <br />
<br />
In all of this, we have felt our Heavenly Fathers arms wrapped around us. <br />
<br />
Yesterday as we drove to the cemetary the national guard were marching along the road. the stopped and stood at attention while we passed. It touched my heart. <br />
<br />
at the service the primary children sang a song. we sang <a href="https://www.lds.org/music/library/childrens-songbook/i-am-a-child-of-god?lang=eng">I am a child of God</a> , one of my favorite hymns. This song will have a new meaning for me now. <br />
<br />
We are Mormon. We are members of the <a href="https://www.lds.org/?lang=eng">Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints</a>. Our faith gives comfort and time will dull the pain. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
thanks for listening...... <br />
<br />
hugs.....<br />

Primitive Gatherings and Temucula Quilts. Amazingly, they were only about 6 miles apart. <br />
<br />
We first went to <a href="http://www.primitivegatheringsca.com/">Primitive Gatherings</a> in Murrieta, CA. Oh my gosh!!!! I wish i took pictures of the inside. Absolutely amazing. Beautiful. I could have bought one of everything!!! I did not buy fabric. I bought a couple of kits. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LGgW7979PHM/VWup5thOPuI/AAAAAAAAIk8/ONoT4ruOZ6o/s1600/primitive%2Bgatherings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LGgW7979PHM/VWup5thOPuI/AAAAAAAAIk8/ONoT4ruOZ6o/s320/primitive%2Bgatherings.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ggJwor2JxdI/VWup6otMijI/AAAAAAAAIlE/K3zWuYoiPm0/s1600/patterns.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ggJwor2JxdI/VWup6otMijI/AAAAAAAAIlE/K3zWuYoiPm0/s320/patterns.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have wanted to do the kit on the right for so long. the price was really good and it jumped into my hands!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SFsAe2oGsME/VWupeSn4OUI/AAAAAAAAIkg/0pDLPZ6XA7E/s1600/flag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SFsAe2oGsME/VWupeSn4OUI/AAAAAAAAIkg/0pDLPZ6XA7E/s320/flag.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This one was a kit too. very reasonable. there was enough to cut 2 of the red strips and muslin. I just cut a square of blue for the 2nd flag. it says land of the free because of the brave. love it! one of them might end up as a present for my son. But I am keeping the other one. <br />
<br />
then on to <a href="http://www.temeculaquiltco.com/">Temucla Quilt Co.</a> Totally different. I got to meet the owner. Very nice. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xxSonnjHI40/VWuqaEiK6ZI/AAAAAAAAIlc/ljzZuazfVSk/s1600/temucula%2Bquilts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xxSonnjHI40/VWuqaEiK6ZI/AAAAAAAAIlc/ljzZuazfVSk/s320/temucula%2Bquilts.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She has a wonderful blog and a summer sampler is coming up. Free! On her blog she has been talking about these little boxes. they are so dang cute! had to pick up 2. she has 3 different sizes. She also has some wonderful wool. oh my! and a really cute container for toothpicks. to use while appliqueing. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pRha0kFU1Sk/VWuqh2h29QI/AAAAAAAAIlk/7JPxMQImktw/s1600/wool%2Bboxes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pRha0kFU1Sk/VWuqh2h29QI/AAAAAAAAIlk/7JPxMQImktw/s320/wool%2Bboxes.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Her bulletin board was sooo cute. if you click on the picture, you will see thread spools used a magnets! brilliant! She has the cutest small quilt patterns. I was a good girl and didn't buy any fabric or patterns. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gtm8gLV7QIg/VWuqX8TfDuI/AAAAAAAAIlU/fn7ilaCu3go/s1600/temucula%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gtm8gLV7QIg/VWuqX8TfDuI/AAAAAAAAIlU/fn7ilaCu3go/s320/temucula%2B2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We then went to lunch at a little Mexican restaurant. <a href="http://www.aztektacos.com/">Aztec Tacos</a> Oh my goodness!!!! I had rolled tacos - very good! and Bruce had pasole</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9mKpxka_Xzk/VWu1s6RaSoI/AAAAAAAAImA/fhPZUX9S9Fs/s1600/pasole.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9mKpxka_Xzk/VWu1s6RaSoI/AAAAAAAAImA/fhPZUX9S9Fs/s320/pasole.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He said it was the best he has had. I tasted it and yes, very yummy! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
From there we took the backroads to Indio, then home. we didn't stop anywhere to take pictures. I would compare the ride to driving Salt River Canyon. lots of switch backs and you can see 3 rows of the road. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's nice to be home and sleep in my own bed and my pillow. and home to fold more fabric! hehehe....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
hugs....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

We went to Anaheim, CA. no, not to Disneyland. there just wasn't time. I love Disneyland!<br />
<br />
Core-Mark had their semi annual vendor party. I am not sure what to call it. because it kind of is like a party. <br />
<br />
it's where Hubby and our son in law, Glen can meet with all the different vendors and order for the stores. we get LOTS of samples. Then we come home and have a loot party with the grands! <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sk6lhnCXmZQ/VWuodda2j6I/AAAAAAAAIj8/vjKxamtMSSs/s1600/loot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sk6lhnCXmZQ/VWuodda2j6I/AAAAAAAAIj8/vjKxamtMSSs/s320/loot.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
That is lots of loot!!!! but one more thing I have to show you....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g1y9GfrVOes/VWuqU6MfHgI/AAAAAAAAIlM/BERikFa8cgw/s1600/rice%2Bkrispies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g1y9GfrVOes/VWuqU6MfHgI/AAAAAAAAIlM/BERikFa8cgw/s320/rice%2Bkrispies.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Can you see the weight? that is 32 oz, 2 pounds!!! I have never seen a treat this big. the grands eyes are going to bug out when they see this!<br />
<br />
As the party goes on, for every purchase that is made, your company's name goes into the raffle. They have drawing every couple of hours or so. We have never really won much at all at these things. but they are fun. However...... We won this time.... an iPad Air 2. I was beyond excited. Glen went up and got it, then Bruce grabbed it and I grabbed it from Bruce. Now before you start thinking, Glen already has a iPad. Bruce is not a fan of technology, so in my book that's mine!!!!! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n_UriusSwcE/VWupd6baOQI/AAAAAAAAIkc/kUO0gjNuPZM/s1600/iPad%2Bair%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n_UriusSwcE/VWupd6baOQI/AAAAAAAAIkc/kUO0gjNuPZM/s320/iPad%2Bair%2B2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Later we won the - which glen has</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lRJM5CzUi54/VWupDMefiSI/AAAAAAAAIkM/lSZSbozQZmY/s1600/beat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lRJM5CzUi54/VWupDMefiSI/AAAAAAAAIkM/lSZSbozQZmY/s320/beat.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We also won 2 boxes of wafer cookies. I am sure Glen and Melissa's boys will love that. we waited around for the last drawing - a 70 inch flat screen TV. I just knew we would win it. Just before the announcer pulled the name, they found another prize. the prize? An M &M folding chair. we won that, not the TV. we were sooooo close! <br />
<br />
We also got to spend some time with Bruce's brother and his family. They live in Yorba Linda. We didn't get pictures, darn. Then Katrina and some of her family came down to visit. They live up by 6 Flags in Santa Clarita. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2IXaNUUX1Dg/VWuuJZ6_IOI/AAAAAAAAIlw/1UZuXfYsMtA/s1600/zeman%2Bfamily.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2IXaNUUX1Dg/VWuuJZ6_IOI/AAAAAAAAIlw/1UZuXfYsMtA/s320/zeman%2Bfamily.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We didn't get to see everyone. But it was wonderful having dinner with the guys! Love those faces! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next blog will be about the quilt stores we visited on our way home.......</div>

I really do. My system of organizing my fabric is not working. Or rather how I fold it. Several of my friends fold their fabric around a ruler. but they leave it flat<br />
<br />
I did that and then folded it in thirds. that really takes up a lot more room if it is yardage. I sort by color. then I also have 30s, batiks, holidays, christmas, civil war, nancy halverson and patriotic, and solids. I have done that for years and seems to work well for me. anything smaller than a FQ goes into strips drawers, or into squares. I can't tell you how many scrap quilts have been made from my scrap drawers! I always check those first. I do find I do not use my strips as much. I need to figure out something there...... <br />
<br />
there is a girl from my ward wanting to earn money for a mission. so I asked if she wanted to fold fabric!! It was worth every cent I paid. But it's not finished! I didn't realize there was sooooo much. that is kind of scary. Plus my hubby saw it since fabric covered every flat surface in my house. Oh dear! <br />

I know this pattern came from a magazine. can't find it though. the squares were 6.5" and the corners were 2.5". really easy to put together. <br />
<br />
I finished the easter rabbit wool penny rug! <br />

Well, a few years ago I gave out pressing spray - made with vodka. <br />
<br />
My Thornberries group decided we needed more! I 'm game! So here is my recipe for pressing spray:<br />
<br />
3 cups distilled water<br />
3 oz vodka<br />
6 - 12 drops essential oils (we used oils from doterra. but I would think any essential oil would work)<br />
<br />
Well there are 6 of us. so we doubled it to make it faster. We did not add any oils at this point! after all was said and done. we had 6 1 gallons and 6 half gallon containers. That's a lot of pressing spray! <br />
<br />
When all was divided, then when started adding what oils we wanted. for myself, lemon/lime and bergamot in my 2 containers. others brought spray bottles and made each bottle a different flavor. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k8c_UikD8QQ/VU9-Si7-ZFI/AAAAAAAAITc/PJ6ayyTqddw/s1600/20150508_114028.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k8c_UikD8QQ/VU9-Si7-ZFI/AAAAAAAAITc/PJ6ayyTqddw/s320/20150508_114028.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So I think I am good for the next year! Thanks gals, it was great fun. I can see this being a yearly thing......<br />
<br />
hugs...<br />

<br />
I kept putting off things I shouldn't be putting off this past week. Shame on me! I was focused on 2 Easter wool projects. Why? I have no idea. But I sure had fun making these....<br />
<br />
I just need to find a lavender button and put the backing on this. It was from a recent quilts and more magazine. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1N5erygr4K8/VU7a-RxSLpI/AAAAAAAAISc/YCzUkrh6kfY/s1600/20150505_141841.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1N5erygr4K8/VU7a-RxSLpI/AAAAAAAAISc/YCzUkrh6kfY/s320/20150505_141841.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one was from a Primitive magazine. a local quilt shop made up a kit for me. This one is finished! Yeah!....... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I have to tell you about a wool shop I found online. <a href="http://nutmeghare.com/">Nutmeg Hare</a> Their prices are really great! very prompt with mailing. Everything was wrapped in tissue. This first photo is a set of 6 - 6 1/2" squares I bought. The second and a set of 2 FQs. go check them out! This is my own opinion. I just happened to find them and lucked out. I will definitely order again. I think I want to do a patriotic one next.......</div>

I do not know about you, but Mother's day has never been one of my favorite days. Please don't get me wrong, I love having my children around, I love having my husband taking care of everything for the day. I miss have breakfast in bed made by my children. Now they have their own children making breakfast for them! <br />
<br />
Mother's Day has always made me feel inadequate as a mother. I can think of all the mistakes I made while my children were young. the things I should have done. But you know, Mother's Day is not about that. <br />
<br />
It's the joy of children doing something special for their moms. It's giving service for someone who gives service all the time for others. It's really not about the moms. It's all about family, and love and service. <br />
<br />
Friday I had the chance to go to my grandson's Mother's Day Tea Party. his mom - my daughter, was sick. really sick. so I substituted. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8l3oJ3B86hg/VU7PUhvMkLI/AAAAAAAAIRc/RdiBTG9DrJs/s1600/20150508_131126.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8l3oJ3B86hg/VU7PUhvMkLI/AAAAAAAAIRc/RdiBTG9DrJs/s320/20150508_131126.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Each child escorted their Mom/Grandmother into the class room. Our chairs were pulled out for us, and each child went and got treats for each of us! Then these precious kiddos recited a poem, and there was a little slide show. I promise you, all their eyes were twinkling, with big smiles on their faces. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q5ryw9rDlqY/VU7RTfD9kHI/AAAAAAAAISE/O6dkpUFKDac/s1600/girls%2Bin%2Bthe%2Bfamily.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q5ryw9rDlqY/VU7RTfD9kHI/AAAAAAAAISE/O6dkpUFKDac/s320/girls%2Bin%2Bthe%2Bfamily.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are some the women in my family. Two of my daughters, My Mom and her sister. My Mother in law. My sister and 3 of my granddaughters. and 1 of my sister in laws. <br />
<br />
All strong, beautiful, courageous women! As for the grands, I know they will be strong women too! <br />
there are a lot of people missing in this photo. due to distance - they live too far away, and those who have passed on. <br />
<br />
I am so thankful for each and everyone. the influence they have all been in my life. I am so grateful for my Mom. What a wonderful example of being an elegant lady and her example of a loving mother. I am grateful for my Mother in law. For raising a fine man who loves me. And each of my daughters and my daughter in law! Oh how I love them all.... <br />
<br />
So today, I won't be dwelling on what ifs. I will be concentrating on all these beautiful people in my my life. How fortunate I am that I can call them family......<br />
<br />
hugs and Happy Mother's day.......<br />

<br />
I love testing patterns. But I have to tell you, that by the time I am sent the pattern to test, there is very little for me to suggest. Linda is a very good pattern writer. And Pictures? about a gazillion. So if I had a question about a step, the picture showed the way! <br />

So Sorry. We have had a few adventures around here. an ER visit, lots of Dr's appointments. the death of a friend. I think things are getting back to somewhat normal. Or rather normal for us..... Thank goodness I have quilting. quilting is soothing to my soul and relaxing. Do you find that for yourself? <br />
<br />
I find that while I am piecing, my mind relaxes. I can figure out things. I can put things in perspective. I feel tension leaves me. I am so thankful that I can have quilting in my life. It has brought new friends into my life. So many blessing while my hands stay busy! <br />
<br />
ok, Stash Report time - there is lots! <br />

Toni and I both finished the tops of the Nancy Halverson Christmas top. We are so happy. It took a little over a month. not too shabby at all...... I bought this for the back....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3WJ0RXutKZM/VSr2X39p7_I/AAAAAAAAICo/X_KbUNWD7TY/s1600/20150408_152858.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3WJ0RXutKZM/VSr2X39p7_I/AAAAAAAAICo/X_KbUNWD7TY/s1600/20150408_152858.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
I started this bunny face table topper. just needs some embroidery and borders. I hopefully will have it done by next easter....<br />
<br />
I also started a St Pat's table runner. it was a quilt as you go project. super simple. I finished the top, then realized I hadn't put the backing on the back. Poop, now what? I think I can layer the back and do some quilting and it will be good. but that defeats the quilt as you go thing doesn't it? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
This is a Vicki and I project. I had a swap with an online group. I fell in love with these cute baskets. I love the pattern when I first saw it. it had no border. I loved the simplicity of it. I have been thinking about adding borders. a couple of friends said to do some applique vine work with flowers. with baskets in the corners. I love that idea. it would be gorgeous. but....... I still love the simplicity of the way it is. Soooo, do I do the applique. I know it would take me forever to do it. Or finish it the way it is. I was thinking of quilting it with a baptist fan design. I think I will go with the simple approach. done is best! <br />
<br />
Well that's it for now. it feels good to see what I have accomplished. <br />
<br />
hugs.....<br />

<br />
we went to her favorite Mexican restaurant. <a href="http://www.nandosmexicancafe.com/">Nandos</a> . they make the BEST cheese crisps. Yum, yum! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Me, who loves taking lots of pictures of my grands, took hardly any! Bad Grandma!!!! <br />
<br />
the grands had spring break recently, I like to spend a day with each of them that live here. <br />
<br />
First off was Gunner and Andrew. no pictures..... the day was full of going to the movies, playing yatzee, going to McDonalds. <br />
<br />
then Zoe came the next day. Off to see Into the woods, Taco Bell and getting manicures! While Zoe was here, she did my St Patrick's Day Chalkboard!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

When we got home I put some <a href="http://www.jamberrynails.net/">Jamberry Nails</a> on her index fingers. First time I tried them. fun, later will be my turn. <br />
<br />
then the following day was Lexi. We had planned to go to the movies too. she wanted to see Paddington. Well, I was doing some things around the house. When I came into the family room, our girl was sawing logs. She was sound asleep! So I just let her sleep. <br />
<br />
Next time I came into the family room she was gone. I heard voices coming from my MIL apartment and went in there. They were putting a puzzle together. They spent the whole day at it. <br />
<br />

I will send it off tomorrow. I belong to a group where we just have to make one block a month and send it off to the birthday girl. Everyone picks out their own fabric and block. For March was <a href="http://www.quilterscache.com/B/BrokenWheelBlock.html">Broken Wheel</a> . It was very easy to make and I really enjoyed it. I think a quilt made of these blocks would be wonderful. <br />

MY! GOSH!!!!hi everyone! ok, I will start at the beginning of my story. I read 2 blogs (OK, I read a lot more than that, my two favorite are.....), <a href="http://de2bvjfn/">Bonnie Hunter</a> and <a href="http://joscountryjunction.com/">Jo and Kelli</a> . Iread them no matter what and always first when I get online. <br />
<br />
Jo and Kelli have written a new quilt book. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Country-Girl-Modern-Modern-Traditional-Junction/dp/1611691532/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426463786&sr=8-1&keywords=country+girl+modern+quilt+book">Country Girl Modern</a> . It looks awesome. And I want it. I want it really bad!!!<br />
<br />
well, I kept putting off ordering it. not sure why, I just did. Then Jo and Kelli had a blog hop of a book review of their book. starting <a href="http://www.joscountryjunction.com/day-1-of-the-country-girl-modern-blog-hop/">HERE</a> . She had a lot of really great bloggers. mostly new to me. I tell you, there were some really good ones. <br />
<br />
One of them is Bonnie Hunter. Best of both worlds for me. Well during the hop, each blogger was giving away Jo and Kelli's book. Ok, I made a deal with my self. If I didn't win, I would buy the book. I had 8 chances to win.....<br />
<br />
AND, I. WON!!!! yahoooooooooo! this is the email I received from Bonnie Hunter:<br />
<br />

<br />
I now have the blocks finished for the first row and later today I will sew the row together. Toni and I have both commented how fast this is going together. It just might be it is so fun to do! <br />
<br />
I have this urgent feeling to start a St Pat's tablerunner or table topper. I am trying so hard to fight it. I do not need to start anything new. but...... we will see.... I still have 24 hours, right? <br />
<br />

I am so excited. I finished a 3280 yard spool of thread! Next time I will write the date when I start a spool. I know this one was started last year. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3dVIsROHrpk/VP0lioSi4zI/AAAAAAAAHik/b65-n-03tVQ/s1600/20150308_160922.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3dVIsROHrpk/VP0lioSi4zI/AAAAAAAAHik/b65-n-03tVQ/s1600/20150308_160922.jpg" height="112" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I use so fine 408 to piece with. I love it. not linty, and thin like aurifil. really nice to sew with. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made 1 lonely bowtie. I can hardly believe that! but I have been concentrating on other stuff. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
A couple of years ago, I fell in love with some fabric and Vicki found a free pattern from Riley Blake using the fabric I loved. So we were excited about this project. Right away I made the apples. The Apple Pie block was a little more involved and kept putting it off. <br />
<br />
I was looking for something else, and I found the Ziploc bag of the Apple pie kit. So this week I made 30 apple pie blocks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
they are finished and squared up. now I can start sewing the rows together. I am sorry. I went looking for the pattern and it is no longer available. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All of these blocks need some machine applique. Except the candy cane, Toni sewed that one together for me. I need to add a couple of holly leaves. We have just about everything else cut and ready to put the other blocks together. I can't believe it is going together so quickly! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And now the May block is down for Angels amoung us. I do have a tiny bit of green left to do on the block. But close enough for me to start June's block. </div>

She told me it was us to practice free motion quilting! hahahahahaha...... Not sure if Vicki's is done. But mine has been hanging in the closet. It is coming out of hiding and I am going to practice FEATHERS!!!!! oh my gosh! me doing feathers! Wish me luck.....</div>

One of them has a long arm, and she is growing daily in her quilting. It truly is amazing. she has only been doing this for around a year. She practices all the time and her quilting is..... beautiful! <br />
<br />
My other friend is new to machine quilting and then there is me, a scaredy cat. I have had my HQ16 for about 4 years, and just now trying to do ruler work and free motion. So silly I know. <br />
<br />
Well, Charlene - the very talented one - helped Toni and I. We need lots of help! we tried feathers.... don't you love feathers? We had our white boards and our dry erase markers, and we drew and drew and drew. We need LOTS of practice. it was fun. Thank you Charlene, you are a sweetie for helping us. We spent the afternoon drawing away.<br />

Charlene brought a quilt to bind. Now several years ago, Charlene and I were in a swap together. the pattern was from Edyta Star. we each made just the thread part of the blocks. Each of us chose a color to make and I had blue. Charlene's is finished, and mine? well... not finished! <br />

In the morning, Toni and I worked on <a href="http://shop.arttoheart.com/product.sc?productId=641&categoryId=2">Christmas Favorites</a> by Nancy Halverson. We both have lots of her fabric. And we both have fabric. I have a lot of previous lines, and Toni has lots from the line used in this book. so we are mixing them up! <br />

Here is the first block. Now we can do all the sewing part. hand buttonhole stitch or machine buttonhole stitch? black or matching thread? Oh the choices! So a new start for us. Hopefully we can keep each other on track. And by the end of the year, a new Christmas quilt!<br />
