First off I finished an OLD UFO!  Yeah me!  this was started, I think about 10 years ago in Thornberries.  we all pooled of patterns and made these little wall hangings.  the top was sewn together and I had most of the embroidery done.  Then for some reason, it was put away.  I came across it, and looked at it for a few days.  It was telling me to finish, and I was just moving it around the sewing room.

I finally grab it up and finished the embroidery - took a couple of nights of not working on it really hard.  I spent about an hour quilting it and another hour binding it.  Finished!

I used a total of 1 1/4 yard of fabric, it's 14 x 20.

This is a charity quilt I have been working on.  I didn't piece it and I will not bind it, so it really doesn't count on my UFO list.  I used the Handiquilter versa tool ruler.  I used a ruler!  It was fun, amazing, and easy and hard at the same time.

this is a close up of the quilting....

By no means is it perfect.  But I am pretty excited that I finally jumped in and did it.

I made 8 more apple blocks.  I need 32 more and now need to cut more pieces for it.

I made 12 more step up blocks.  I need 26 more of these blocks.  so more cutting here too.

I finished making these flower blocks.  I am sending 12 blocks for the swap  and needed to make 8 more blocks for a total of 20.  well, I guess I over cut what I needed.  I have 26 blocks now!

And I finished Novembers block!  I have December yet to do.  I am so excited, I am so close.  So pretty soon I can start putting them together.

This coming week another UFO will go on the frame.  just trying to decide which one and can I do some fun quilting on it!

Something new

Hi everyone!  hubby and I love to try new restaurants.  We have found some really good ones.  This time we tried Aloha Kitchen

Can I say YUM!!!!  we loved it.  Bruce had the potato/macaroni salad.  He really enjoyed it.  I had the garden salad.  Hmmmmm......   I also had the coconut shrimp which was delicious.  and some kind of chicken - sorry I do not remember the name of it.  very tender and moist.  the serving were huge.  We had to take some food home.

would we go back?  in a New York minute!  It's a tiny place.  service was good.  AND it's next to our favorite pizza place - Nello's

no finishes, just slowly plugging away.

I was in a mini bow tie swap.  there were all sent to me, I traded them out, and sent them back out.

And I made about 20 more bow ties.  work some more on the flower swap

Same picture from last week.  I made 4 more.  I need to trade 12 but I need 20 for the size of quilt I want to make.  so I have just a couple more to do.

this week, I think, is going to be at a slower pace.  not much happening.  cross your fingers and hope it stays that way.  so hopefully plenty of time to finish up some things.

The weather has been in the 80s here.  absolutely wonderful!  perfect!  What we live for.  I know it will be getting hot soon, but please not too soon.

A Most Wonderful Gift!

I have a friend who is a long arm quilter.  Well, in fact I have a lot of friends who quilt for hire.  But this one friend, has been so very helpful.
When I first got my HQ16, she spent a lot of time answering questions and showing me things.  Joann  just upgraded her system to digital.  She emailed me about her pantographs.  Did I want them?  Oh my, YES!

Do you see this?  3 bags!!!  probably over 150 of them.  Thank you so much Joann.  You are a sweetie!!! I am overwhelmed!  There are good people in this world......

Happy Birthday Friend!

Hi everyone,  One of my friends recently had a birthday.

Happy birthday Toni!

She had the coolest scarf on.

Isn't it beautiful?  love it!!!

Toni and Charlene went to Road to California this year.  I had asked them if they found my favorite straight, please pick some up for me, and Cyndi and Mardi.  When we went last year, Bohin did not have any.  Well, of course they had them this year.  And Toni being the sweetie she is, she bought us each a package.

Bless her heart,  they are expensive.  She was a sweetie!  Thank you!!!!

Hope you had a fantastic birthday!!!

Hi everyone!  hope you have had a fantastic week.  Like always lots going on, but that is life isn't it?

Things have been crazy.  but I did manage to sew with friends at my home last week.  Mardi brought show and tell.  this is a baby quilt she is working on.  the top is finished!  I love it!

This is another quilt she has finished.  She is just looking for another button for the center of one of the flowers.  Way too cute!

Toni was working on tracing applique and Cyndi was working on a wool BOM.  Charlene was in Virginia - I think - taking long arm classes.  Can't wait to hear all the wonderful things she learned.

I enjoyed the day so very much.  I haven't had much of a chance to do any piecing.  So I finished sewing all the 11 rows of Bonnie Hunters mystery So now I can start sewing the rows together!  yeah!!!

I started another new project.  I couldn't help myself.  It's so darn cute!

I just need to quilt it.  I found it on Quilts by Cherie   it was so fun to make.  I did it as a leader ender as I was sewing the mystery.

Over the weekend, my dear sweet hubby gave me a gift of time.  He took care of the home front while I sewed. I needed to get a couple of things done.  I needed to play.  I have always said that quilting soothes my soul and gladdens my heart.  I needed some of that.

I made more cute little bowties.  I now have 117 finished.  I made 10 flower blocks for a swap.  I have 2 more I need to sew.

I made 16 buckeye beauty blocks for another swap.

I made 6 apple blocks.  I did this swap last year.  I want to make more to have a lap size quilt.  I now have 32.  more than half way done.

I also made 14 step up blocks.  again from a swap last year.  I only need 21 more blocks of those.

I finished the embroidery on a little Halloween quilt.  This is from probably 10 years ago.  Why did I wait so long?  I just needed to embroidery the cat.  and took part of an evening!  so hopefully, I will quilt it this coming week.  I am not putting it away.

I know it looks like I did a lot.  And I did.  8 bobbins!  4 of those bobbins were from the featherweight.  and those bobbins are small.  the other 4 were partial bobbins I was trying to use up.  An empty bobbin is a empty bobbin.  it show progress.

I have had a charity quilt that is on the frame.  for a week......  I decided I am going to do ruler work on this and some free motion.  and here I am staring at it.  so my goal this week, is NOT to stare.  To start that quilt.  Wish me luck!

that's it for now.......

I just wish the weeks would slow down a bit.  It is just zooming by.

This is my finish for this week.  I think the pattern is from This and That.  it was a class I took probably 5 years ago.  it finished 61 x 80.  I used a charm pack of Kansas troubles.  and busted 8 1/2 yards of fabric.  yeah!!

I have been working on some blocks for swapping.  promise I will have pictures next week.  things have been a little busy here.  My mother in law is having some problems with her hip.  So I need to be close to home for a bit.  all is good.

Short and sweet,  but a least I have a finish!  AND another quilt on the frame!  yeah!!!

UFOs finished: 3
New start:  1 and finished!

not much change this week. But I did accomplish a lot.

All 25 blocks are finished.  I am now working on the sashings.

I have added about 50 more mini bowties!

I started and finished the sew together bag!  Thanks to Charlene for helping me!!!  she helped Toni and I with it.  I can see making several more.  My granddaughter Lexi, saw it and requested one.  I made mine to store all my cords and such for my tablet, phone, and MP3 player.  now they are all in one place so I can just pick up and go.

I still have a quilt on the frame.  somehow the laser moved and I am 3 rows from the end.  so the spacing is totally wrong.  I have to finish ripping out a partial row.  Dang, that is not fun!!!  but in the next day or two I should be done.  so close.......
