I have a finish!!!!  yeah!!!  this is spring blessings rebloomed.  It was a BOM from Quilt House bed and breakfast & Quilt Shop  I love how it turned out.  I used a panto all over pattern.  I know, I quilted right over all the lovely applique.  I am such a chicken when it comes to quilting.  I need to step out of my comfort box.  But I didn't want to experiment with this quilt.

If you are interested, Elaine has LOTS of BOM (blocks of the month). I mean LOTS. Some of them she designs herself. Her prices are very good.   She also sells the best fusible I have ever used - Soft Fuse (scroll down just a bit).

Next I finished all the monkey blocks for Monkeyshines.  I am testing the pattern for  Quilt Doodles  Can I say FUN? The applique was easy.  Once I finished embroidering the faces on those monkeys, their personalities just shone!  I love these little guys....

You will love all of Cindy's patterns.  Go check her out!

I have been still working on Home for the Holidays.  another block is almost done.

So that is it for this week.  Today I load another quilt on the frame, so another UFO will soon bite the dust.

Osaka

Hi everyone!  My husband has worked hard all of his life.  Striving to be better.  I think though, always in his mind was  - if this were my company I would.......   Three years ago, we had the chance open up to us to have our own company.  What a blessing it has been.

His office staff is small.  I think 13 people including my husband.  But they are awesome!  They all get along well.  They know their job and do it well.  It is a joy every day for Bruce to go to work and associate with them every day.

Bruce has a comptroller, who is so thorough and precise.  He is perfect for the job.  we have talked about going out to dinner with Ed and his wife.  We finally got to go last week.  It was our 3rd anniversary of having our own business.

We went to Osaka a Japanese steak house.  they fix your dinner right at the table.  Yum!

We had sushi.....

There was fire involved......

And a gentleman at our table was celebrating his birthday! excuse the picture, he was dancing!

Reminder to me:  don't go there for my birthday.  they make you wear funny masks, bang the drum, and everyone sings to you!  LOL.......

Darn, I didn't get a picture of Ed and his lovely wife.  We had a great time.  It was nice getting to know them both a little better!

I'm a tester!

Hi everyone!  have you ever been to quilt doodles ?  I love Cindy's blog and have several of her patterns.  she posted the other day she was looking for testers to make her newest pattern -  Monkeyshines.  I volunteered and she said yes!  Yipeeee......

I happen to have a new grandbaby coming in August.  Not sure yet if it is a boy or girl.  I have been playing with ideas for a girl, but not sure what I would do if it is a boy.

So I went shopping for fabric......

I guess, I am going very neutral with this one.  but I think it will be very cute!  so, other things will get put on hold for the rest of the week.  I have a new project to make!

Waffle Love! Oh my!

Hi everyone!  My daughter has been telling me I have to try these waffles.  It's a food truck imported from UT.  Waffle Love They were parked near by my home recently and decided I have to see what all the hype is about.

the recipe is liege waffles or Belgium waffles.  there are lots of recipes online.  they all seem to use pearl sugar.  what happens is the pearl sugar gets added to the batter.  then when the waffle is cooked, the sugar melts and crystalizes on the outside of the waffle making is crunchy, and sweet, and well, totally amazing!  I mean REALLY amazing.  I had no idea.....

I bought raspberries and cream for my mother in law

and strawberries, cream and biscoff spread  OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!  didn't even know this stuff existed.  I am going to look at the grocery store, next time I go.

Like I said, I have been exploring recipes all afternoon.  I think I will be experimenting on Bruce.  I don't think he will complain!  LOL......  My daughter was right.  good stuff.

I have finished all 42 blocks of the cheddar that is pink quilt!  yeah!!!  happy dance!!!  I have worked on those blocks since last summer.  no hurry, just as leaders and enders.  I really feel like I have accomplished a lot though.  In those blocks I have 1680 2" squares.  mercy, that seems like a lot.  now to do the sashings and borders.  the blocks finish at 11".  WooWhooooooo.....
I have finished the first row!  yeah for me!!!!  I am soooo going to love this quilt.  Hubby likes it too!!  we just might keep this one.......

I also attached a sashing strip on 1 side of the rest of the 36 blocks AND finished all 8 sashing strips!

YAHOOOOOOO!

I also finished getting ready the 2" squares ready to send.  I joined the The Curious Quilter swap.  you can choose between 1.5", 2", and 2.5" squares to swap.  each set is 100 charms.  If you want to join, you have till the 24th of March.  You can do it!!!  I know I talked earlier about wanting to do all the different sizes.  I did get 8 sets of 2.5" charms ready.  but I decided I wanted the 2" charms more.  I want to finish my cheddar that is pink quilt!  I made 10 sets.  1 for me, 1 for Vicki and 8 for the swap.

I finished April and May  blocks for the birthday swap I am in.  everyone gets to pick their block and color way.  30s fabric has to be used.  I have to wait till December.....

And 2 more blocks for Home from the Holidays.  These blocks are super easy and quick.  Nice handwork with quick results!

Still working on blessings. Just two more passes and I will take it off the frame and bind it!   what I thought was a forever cold turned out to be allergies!  I have never had allergies!!!!  so, the Dr. gave me some wonderful help me to breathe, stop the cough and let me sleep drugs.  Life is good again!

Child of the World

Hi everyone!  this week Zoe had her 2nd grade music concert.  I love going to these concerts.  they just make me smile.  Noah Webster has a fantastic music program.  Sorry, I do not know the music directors name, but I love her and she brings out the best in the kiddos.

Zoe's theme was Child of the World.  What does it take to be a Child of the World.  How can I (the child) make the world a better place?

The songs were fun.  A lot of children had speaking parts, including Zoe!  She did fantastic!!  We are so proud of her.  She was very nervous, but it didn't show at all....

Thanks for inviting us Zoe girl!!!!  love ya sweetie........

Lunch with Friends.....

Hi everyone!  good friends are hard to come by.  My mom has a good friend, Donna.  They have so much in common.  and it's fun to watch them interact.  Lots of laughing going on.

Well, Donna has been very good to me and my Mom.  She is a sweetie for sure.  Mom and I have talked about taking Donna out to lunch to thank her for all she has done.  We also talked about maybe giving her a quilt.  I thought of a few that she might like.  such a hard decision.  Donna is a girly girl.  So I wanted something pinkish, and girly and sweet.

I had decided on one quilt top I have.  but it just didn't seem right.  Then when I finished the  pinwheel quilt, yep, that was it!!!

She was so excited and sooooo happy!  I know, not really pink, but the background looks pink!  And she loved it.

Doesn't it make you feel good when  your quilt goes to a happy home!

UFOs finished this week: 3 wool
UFOs finished year to date: 3 and 4 wool

I decided that I am going to separate my wool and cotton UFOs.  I do not keep track of the wool yardage.

I have a had a nasty cold this week, sigh.....  felt like my head is 3 times the size it should be.  I lost my voice and it's still gone.  I am feeling a lot better.  But I missed sewing with my friends last week, which really bummed me out.  So, I didn't get blessings finished quilted.  did make a pass or two.

I finished February, March and April Wool BOM!

April

February

March

I finished a little wool penny rug for Halloween!

the fabric I added this week, well, someone was selling their scraps for $8.00 including postage!!!  I had to buy it.  it really wasn't scraps, it was yardage!  about 6 yards.

I went to Mad B's to get some more bobbins.  while there they had 2 of the cutest quilt kits.  Glory Be! a 15 x 18 1/2 wall quilt and Luck of the Irish! a small table runner.  6 1/2 x 15 1/2.  everything was included in the kits and the price was GREAT!!!!  I was weak.....

I did manage to go to Thornberries.  thank goodness it was the end of the week when I was feeling human again.  Barb was there.  She has been working on this 9 patch.  This was a swap in Thornberries, several years ago.  I managed to do one month and then I bailed.  sooooo sorry I didn't hang in there.  these 9 patches are 2"  with 2" shirtings alternating.  they are so pickin small!  Barb has them in 4 rows now.  My goodness the rows are heavy.  I mean REALLY heavy.  this quilt will be awesome when she finishes.  I mean, what's not to like!  It's beautiful!

I also finished prepping all my wool applique blocks for Home for the Holidays , even finished 1 block.

so I guess I didn't do too bad this week.  It makes me feel better when I accomplish something!

My Aunt Betty

Hi Everyone!  My Mom and I went to Payson the other day to visit with my Aunt Betty.  I have such fond memories of her.  One thing I remember so well is her phonograph record player. It played 45 records.  She had the song Tequila by the Champs.  The song was popular in 1958.  I would play that song over and over and over.  Now, I have never tasted Tequila.  Never had any alcohol.  but I love that song!  as a side note, Bruce and I were at a Texaco function several years ago.  big dinner somewhere.  the entertainment?  The Champs!  loved it!

another memory.  When I was about 5 years old,  my aunt was in high school.  she took a sewing class.  she made a grey jumper with a red dotted swiss blouse.  One outfit for her and one for me!  There was a fashion show for all the girls to models their outfits they had made.  She and I walked the cat walk together!  I felt so grown up!

My Uncle took these pictures for us.  He was using my smart phone.  My aunt and uncle are not teckies.  They do not even have a computer.  So heads are a little cut off and we were talking - a lot!
We never shut up.  And lots of laughing!

Now,, the last memory.  I remember this hanging in my grandparents home.  I remember running my hands over it, fascinated by the detail.  She made this when she was17 years old in shop in high school.  She took shop in 1957!  I wonder if  there were any other girls taking shop with her.  She told me that she found the picture on the front of a Arizona Highways magazine.  Her teacher helped her transpose it onto the oak.  she carved it.  I love it!  She gave it to me, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I brought her a quilt.  Which I didn't take a picture of.... sorry.  but it was a pink roses kaleidoscope.  I will have to hunt around to see if I have any pictures anywhere.

I finished the pinwheel quilt!  yeah!!!  only about 10 years in the making, I think.  Maybe longer.  It was a row by row exchange.  I provided the background.  I wanted everyone to make different pinwheels for me.  I love 2 color quilts, always have.  Especially red 2 color quilts.  So I was so excited to try this.  I was a new quilter, kind of.  there were 5 of us.  from the beginning I wanted scalloped borders.  Maybe that's why I took so long to finish it.

A couple of years ago, I was asked to do a class on scallop borders.  ok.....  it was a challenge and I LOVED it!

This quilt is almost square, 53 x 57.  so it doesn't matter which way the pinwheels go.  This was the best picture of the few I took.  Of course, Mr. Diesel, the cat was in every picture.  I think he was hoping I would lay it down for him to lay on it of course.

I have made more of the cheddar scrappy pink blocks.  I need to see where I am at.  But, I do know I need to cut more 2" squares for the borders.

Still not quite done quilting the Blessings quilt.  I am wanting it finished by Wednesday, so I can show my friends.

Hope you have a fantastic week.  With some sewing thrown in.

hugs....

Oh boy! A new project!

I know, I know, another new project.  Vicki and I always inspire each other.  there are so many things we want to get done.

Fat Cat Patterns  has a new free BOM, well almost free.  if you miss a month, you have to pay for it.It is posted for a whole month, so you should have plenty of time to download.   Penguin Cheer.  It is so darn cute!

this is the 2nd month.  Vicki and I have finally prepped January and February's blocks.

Block #1

Block #2

Am I right?  Darn Cute?  Yep, I know....   So glad we are doing this.  Now I just have to do the machine applique part.  shouldn't take too long.  I have all the squares cut for the rest of the BOM.  so it should be pretty easy to do each block.  Vicki and I want to Skype while we are working on the blocks.  Toni and Charlene gave us the idea.  We can sew, visit, and laugh, like a mini retreat for us.

I am making headway with the Spring Blessings quilt, I have 4 rows quilted now.  I am finished  sewing the binding onto a OLD UFO.  Things are coming along......

Scouts, are you ready?

Hi everyone!  This week we were able to go to Andrew's pinewood derby.  It has changed a bit from when our boys raced their cars.  the announcer was a mixture of a nascar, WWW wrestling, and Scouting voice.  He was great!  Everything was tied to the computer.  There were 35 boys.  they all raced about 10 times.

Here is Andrew's super Superman car.  He got the award for the most stickers used on a car.  He placed in the top 10 of the racers.

All the scouts made their stands.  Andrew had a great time.  While the scouts were racing, Gunner was drawing pictures and bringing me water and popcorn.  He is such a sweetie!

Someone suggested Sketch guru (for android) to do fun things with my pictures.  This is a picture of Hudson.  His mom had just removed his binky. This is the crayon feature.   Pretty cool!

It was a fun night!  sure love these boys!  Thanks for inviting us...

hugs.....
