Birthday Swap Block

Hi everyone!  today I finally finished the March birthday block.  I will send it off tomorrow.  I belong to a group where we just have to make one block a month and send it off to the birthday girl.  Everyone picks out their own fabric and block.  For March was Broken Wheel .  It was very easy to make and I really enjoyed it.  I think a quilt made of these blocks would be wonderful.

watch the mail Cathy!

Thornberries

Hi everyone!  Recently we had our Thornberries meeting.  This time we went to Joe's Real BBQ for lunch.  we sat around and talked, got caught up, and did hand work.  And then we had lunch, yum!

Sue was the only one who brought show and tell.

She is such a sweetie, she brought me a redwork pillow.  she had found it at a garage sale.  Thank you Sue!

Last year we traded 2.5" strips for Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy trip.  Sue has started sewing hers together.  this is going to be sooooo pretty.  I need to start sewing mine together.

Also last year we traded 5 2" charms to make this cross quilt.  This is going to be a BIG quilt.  Hmmmm, I still haven't started sewing this together either.

It was a very warm day.  towards the end, it got into the 90s.  Mercy, I am not ready for summer yet!  Please, let us enjoy spring a little more.......

A Pouch Swap

Hi Everyone!

a month or so ago, Kim at lily patch quilts hosted a pouch swap.  Well,  I decided to join!

I had the privledge to exchange pouches with Cathy who lives in France!  how cool is that!

Cathy and I wrote back and forth learning what we each liked.  Cathy loves civil war fabrics.  I had this idea to find some really pretty civil war fabric, keep the pouch very simple and fill it with everything you would need to bind a quilt.  I pictured a hard working pouch!  LOL..

Of course, I had to include my favorite candy bar!  a FQ of more civil war fabric, some quilting playing cards and some AZ pictures.

Here is what I received from Cathy!

isn't the pouch beautiful?  oh, I how I love it!  the 2 smaller are sachet, lavender sachets.  And how lovely they smell.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Cathy.

And thank you Kim for hosting!  Kim has made a pinterest board of the pouches.

Another Table Runner Swap is finished!

Hi Everyone!  We had another table runner swap over at The Quilted Table .  They have been so fun to participate in.  I have liked what I made and what I have been given.

This time I sent to a CA. girl and received from another CA girl!

This is what I sent Dianna.  You might be wondering what a target has to do with anything.  Well, Dianna has grands.  I found a fun tut for a marshmallow/pom pom catapult for kids to make out of tongue depressors, rubber bands.  My grands LOVE them.  so I sent them along to share with her grands.  It was fun getting everything together.

And here is what Cathy sent:

I feel like it was Christmas.  Everything was wrapped in really cute red/tan check paper.  There are no before pictures.  who has time for that!!!

Cathy sent lots of stuff for our celebration for the 4th.  napkins, coasters, plates, silverware, candies a cute wall hanging adorable headband that my granddaughters will be so jealous of and of course the really nice table runner.

Thank you Cathy, you are a sweetie for sure.  I appreciate all you did.  And so does my family!!  because this means a party is in the works.

Swaps are so much fun!

Hi everyone!  i have so much fun joining the swaps over at quilted table

first there was the Easter swap.  then a 2.5" strip swap - I didn't do that one, but they are going to have more.  and now a mug rug swap!

I gave to Liz!  all the way over to the east coast.

I realized after I had sent it I did not include any coffee or tea for her.  I do not drink either, so I didn't even think about it.  oh well......  that red ball on the right?  a wool pincushion.  LOVE THEM!  Liz loves red and turquoise and 30s, so I included a couple of FQs for her.  She also LOVES bats and camels.  so instead of a butterfly, I put a bat on the mat.  I found the pattern on Craftsy

I changed it a bit to fit Liz's taste - I hope! It was fun to pull together.  all from stash!  yeah!!!

Now for my treasure!

It came in an Amazon Box!  this is a girl who knows how to shop!!!

However, I am not a patient present opener!  beautiful paper but.......

It was wrapped in tissue! gone.......

A zippered pouch, a beautiful mug rug and a folder with pockets.  and inside...

 Herbal teas and sugars.  yum!

Oh, and on the back on the mug rug? a beautiful label!

thank you so much Diana!  I love everything!  You are a sweetie!

I got it! I got it!

Hi everyone!  I think I told you I belong to the quilted table runner yahoo group - here

Well today I received my table runner from Liz!  THANK YOU!!!!!  I love it!  This is what I found inside the box:

See all the candy? for me!!  it's in the sewing room so I can have my treats.  and a snap bag!  I love those bags Liz, they can keep me entertained for hours - open, close, open, close, open, close - well you get the picture!  In the bag were my favorite clips for binding.  AND they are pretty!  and the cutest little matchbook needle keeper.  fascinating!  AND Easter egg fabric.  there is enough there to really do something with.  more than a FQ, I forgot to measure how much.  too excited to see everything.  AND........

My table runner.  Liz is right, it's not Eastery but very spring like and the colors are perfect!  You can see how it pops on my dark table.  Liz the colors are perfect for where I am putting it.  LOVE IT!
And then I have to show you the cute little chocolate bunnies that were included.  My grands will love them, oh wait!  They would have loved them.
They are gone...... they were yummy!  but darn cute!

Liz, you are a sweetie.  thank you for everything.  I couldn't have asked for a better partner!  you made my day!
