Something Wicked this way comes.......

It's my turn!  Yeah!  I am so excited.  Thank you Madame Samm and Wicked Wendy for all the work and organizing you have done for us!  Be sure to check out madam Samm, cuz there is a give away there for sure, a really good one!

WARNING!  lots of pictures.......

Oh how I love Halloween.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Halloween!  I love old scarey movies.  I love all the chocolate and smarties!  I love walking with the grands to go trick or treating.  And I love having the neighborhood kiddos come trick or treating to our home.  Even those teenagers with their pillowcases!

So the Wicked blog hop is almost over and its has been AWESOME!!!!  so many new ideas I want to do......  So here is my take on Wicked!

I told you last month that Vicki and I got together to sew, sew, sew.  so since then, I have been finishing, finishing, finshing!  LOL.....

First off, a UFO #1!!!  Vicki and I did this top from a couple of years ago.  all from our stash.  lap size. 50 x 70, 6 1/4 yards used.

Next up is a pattern from BHG It's called Pretty Pumpkin Tablecloth for fall.  I tea dyed the muslin we used and had lots of Black wool, so I kitted it out for the both of us.  Love it.  It was not a UFO.  but it is finished!  NP (new project) #1

Next up, pincushions!  yeah!  Love pincushions.  My friend Charlene surprised me with this pattern!  it came with the wool.  Thank you Charlene!  I love them.
there was wool in the kit to make 4 cats.  I shared with Vicki while in Williams.  thank  you Charlene!  they were fun to make and super easy.

The bat pincushion is called  Sew Batty .  found that at Monica's bead and quilt shop in Palm springs.  He has soooo much personality.  Love him! NP #2, 3, and 4.

Next is my October wool BOM:  I have loved this BOM.  each month I so look forward to my envelope coming in the mail.  it doesn't take long to work it up.  And the buttons.  Oh. My. Goodness!  they are porcelain.  they are just beautiful.  UFO #2

The skeleton gloves were a gift from Vicki!  Love them.  My grands are so jealous.  LOL.......

This is from Primitive Stitches . Be careful it's a wicked place!  Wicked good!!!!! I loved making this project.  Super quick and easy.  However I did not want to do a satin stitch for the spider.  I used 2 buttons!   Not a UFO.  NP #5

this quilt I have been wanting to do since 2010!  does that make it a wannabe UFO?  Toni and I got together several months ago and made kits for our friends.  Charlene and Toni have theirs done - quilted, bound and hanging up!  I just have my top done.  but I love it none the less.  it's from the Quilt Sampler Magazine Fall 2010.

This quilt is from Quilts and More Fall 2013 Magazine.  This was a project Vicki and I worked on together.  It was a little more work.  but I love the way it turn out.  Needs to be quilted.

I have fallen in love with this pattern.  do the hustle  Super duper easy.  It ends up being a lap size quilt.  This was a last minute, decide we had to do it, had the charms already quilt that Vicki and I wanted to do.  Still needs to be quilted.

Does this quilt make you smile?  Charlene and Toni found this pattern and thought I needed it!  hmmmmm.......  YEAH!!!  I immediately called Vicki and told her we had to do this quilt.  We decided to pool our Halloween fabric, we already had the background.  And while we were in Williams, we went for it.  Click on the picture and it will enlarge it.  You will see the witches shoes and hats in the borders!  Which Witch? goes to the blog.  scroll down and you will see a Christmas version, which is also in the pattern.  Way too cute!!!

Oh my, do you think he likes my dish towel?  Happy Halloween TeaTowels  from Bird Brain of course!  I think it was last month Cyndi, Toni and I went down to the Tucson show.  Bird Brain was there and so I bought some tea towels and this cute pattern.  So easy to make.  NP #6

OK, last picture!  promise!!!!  I made this top probably 4 or 5 years ago.  I am sorry, I can't find the pattern.  So I don't know the name of it.  I remember when I first saw it, I immediately thought of Halloween fabric.  The ghost in the border will glow in the dark.  lap size!  it's 48 x 60. 5 1/4 yards used from stash.  UFO #3.

Now for the give away!  who doesn't love a give away?  I LOVE give aways!  I am giving one of the cat pincushions.  I only ask that you follow my blog.  Please make a comment about what your favorite thing is about Halloween.  US residents only please.  Sorry but the pin cushions are heavy.  I will use a random generator to pick a name.  I will do this on Friday.  Good luck everyone!!!  You know I feel bad about saying US residents only.  So if I pick someone from another country, I will send them something too.  not sure yet, but it will be cool.  So we will see how the numbers go.  Thank you all!

Here is the schedule for Tuesday.  Enjoy!  Have fun and leave lots of comments on their blogs.  it's like a pat on the back.  Makes us feel warm and fuzzy!

HO, HO, HO, yep, it's my turn! And a give away!

Hi everyone!  I am so excited to be on this blog hop!  thank you Madam Samm and Carol for cheerleading this blog!  This is an awesome blog hop.  ok, now for some fun.

My friend Vicki is also on this hop.  When we decided to join, we challenged each other to get as many Christmas UFOs finished. I started counting and I think I have about 20 Christmas UFOs.   boy have we been working hard.

#1, 2, 3, and 4.  Do you love Nancy Halverson patterns?  I sure do!!!  I can't believe all I had to do was sew on all the cute buttons on these little hangings.

They are small, 6 1/2" x 7".  I figured almost 1/2 yard was used for the 4 of them.  They are done!

#5 Next project to finish is #12 for the red work BOM I have been working on all year!  I have only September, October and November to finish. They are now done, done, done!   1/2 yard busted

#6  Next project is another from my redwork club. 2011 I think.  I still have several months to do, but decided to finish December's!  LOL.....

The pattern is called Colorwork Calendar, #134, by Kim Goodrich, Once upon a vine co.  1/2 yard busted!

#7 Next is a Santa pillow.  Vicki put together the kits for the two of us.  so I am not sure of the pattern.  it was fun to paint it.  then I just outlined with black embroidery thread.  I used a running stitch.  Super simple.  1 yard busted.

#8  Next is The Sock Quilt.  I first saw this on Pots and Pins.  You can find the pattern HERE.  At first Vicki and I decided to trade socks.  then another group I am in - Thornberries - decided they wanted to trade socks too!  Now, this is a big quilt!  mine turned out 77 x 98.  With all the socks swapping and trading, I just couldn't add them all.  I quilted snowflakes all over the quilt.  doesn't it look like a quilt to cuddle up in with hot chocolate?  Love this quilt!  Thanks girls for swapping with me!

OK, a question for you!  This is the first time I have used homespun on my borders. sigh....  big sigh....  I didn't realize that homespuns are really different than cottons.  I have used homespuns lots of times in my quilts.  never for the borders.  it stretched and puckered and looked awful after I quilted it.  I have a HQ16.  My quilts have always been pretty square.  Well, it had a green border after the red border.  Gone!  I cut it off.  So it's a little smaller.  I still like it.  Oh, so back to the question.  What hints can you give me on homespun fabrics?  Please advise.  I really like homespun, and would like to use it again.  Thanks! 12 1/2 yards busted!

#9  Next quilt!  this is an Amy Bradley pattern.  Love me some Amy Bradley!  The pattern is Merry Christmas.  the faces are sooo cute in this pattern.  Vicki and I wanted to make the whole quilt.  We talked about it off and on for a while.  one day, the kit to make the penguin quilt arrived.  but instead of 1 block there where 9 different penguins!  She provided me with the background, everything fused and the sashing.  I had to cut out all the pieces!  LOL...  Thank you Vicki!  This is such a happy quilt.  I quilted snowflakes on this one too.  it turned out much better than the socks!  busted 5 3/8 yards.

#10  Next, oh my heart be still....  back in 2011 this was our project for redwork club.  Winter Wonderland by Crabapple Hill.  Love, love this pattern.  I have seen it in red, blue, green, purple and scrappy. On one I saw, there were crystals at every place there was a French knot.  and let me tell you there are a lot of French knots here!  LOL.....   every one of them absolutely beautiful!  Thank goodness for this hop, cuz it has really helped me to get this done.  Again I used snowflakes to quilt it.  enough of snowflakes!  promise next one will not have snowflakes!  LOL...  I used 7 7/8 yards of fabric here!  All I had to buy was the batting.

#11  Again a Nancy Halverson pattern.  another Vicki project.  she is such a sweetie!!  Fa La La Pillow.  I should have thought about this a bit.  I should have quilted the pillow then added the applique.  would have been much easier!  I do like and it is a happy Christmas pillow!  Oh I just realized I have to put the mustache on!  I need to find it!  LOL......

#12.  hmmmmm, another Nancy Halverson pattern!  The Shepherd Quilt.   I belong to a group of quilters that has been together close to 15 years.  they are a great bunch of girls. We are the Thornberries.  I mentioned them earlier.   We have laughed together, cried together, and quilted together.  And we have swapped a lot!  Last year we swapped sheep!  I could make everyone of Nancy H's quilts.  They are so whimsical and happy and sweet too.  I used 5 3/8 yards of fabric for this one. This pic is only of the top, but it is quilted!  promise!  I just need to bind it.  it's already squared up with the binding sewn on - just the hand part to do!

#13  ok, I am sneaking one more quilt in!  this is called winter wonderland.  Totally different from the quilt above.   Vicki found the pattern at Piece N Quilt back in Sept of 2010.  Vicki collected lots of Nancy Halverson fabric and shared.  There is so much fabric left over, that I will be looking for a cool pattern to use for us.
I finished the top on Saturday, ran to the store because I wanted this one to have minkee on the back!  oh my goodness!!!  This is the first time I have attempted  to use minkee on the back of a quilt. 7 1/8 yards busted.   I have a friend Toni, that does it all the time.  Her quilts are so cuddleable.  is that a word?  you just want to snuggle up in one of her quilts.  so I might have to keep this one!  LOL.....

Again, this is the top only you see.  because it's only half quilted.  it is still on the frame.  So, I didn't quite get all 13 done, but they are sooooo close.  considering that when I signed up to do the hop, these projects were in pieces.  amazing what you can get done when you put your mind to it.

So my grand total of fabric busted is 41 7/8 yards!  Not to bad........

here is the schedule for today!  Let's see what the others are up to......

it's my turn! Say it with flowers blog hop and a give away!

hi everyone!  this has been a really fun hop, hope you have enjoyed it so far.   i sure have.  Thanks to  Madame Sam and our cheerleader, Carol

I love flowers.  Love the looks, love the smells, just love them.  Do I have a green thumb?  hmmmmm, no.  NO!  My mother, my sister, my Aunt, my Grandmother, yes.  Me, no.  sigh.....

Funny story, I love roses.  my backyard has, lots of yellow rose bushes, pinks, reds, peach roses. I neglect them.  I never feed them. I hardly ever dead head them. And they grow crazy.  right now some of them are over 7 foot tall.  They do get pruned every January, because the garden guys do it for me.  I am bad.  But I just don't like working in the garden.

I started to look around my home.  Lots of flowers in my home too!

This is a red work quilt I made a few years ago.  It's from Alex Anderson.  It hangs in my guest bath.  I just love it!

This is a kaleidoscope quilt, again from several years ago.  the fabric had great big roses!

I even have Mary Englebright playing cards!

And my current project called My Blessings.  Not quite ready to share that yet.  Soon.

So, there are lots of flowers in my life!

i have been on one big adventure here.  A couple of years ago i swapped some blocks with friends.  our goal was to make a triple Irish Chain quilt.  oh be still my heart!  i made lots of blocks.  i even joined a swap for 1.5' squares. Several swaps.  i made my top and added the borders.  and then it was put away, in a safe place.  A very safe place.  So safe i can't find it!!!!!  Mercy.....

I wanted to applique flowers and stems in the border.  i thought this would be the perfect time.  So change of plans...

my friend Vicki suggested this book she found in my quilting room!  Down to Earth  I love Barri Sue Daudet!  She use to come to Phoenix every January to the show that is held at the state fair grounds.  I really miss her!

Now, you know Vicki and I are always finding fun things for us to do.  I think she wanted to do something from this book and just hooked me in!  LOL...  But I needed a project and I loved the book.  I bought it right?  who knows how long it's been sitting around in my quilting palace waiting to be used!  So I started....  Then I came up with "Vicki if you make this, I can post pics on same pattern, two different ways!  Well we both got them done.  I do believe this is the first project we have ever started that finished so quickly.

Here is Vicki's Mat.  it's needle turned and made with all batik fabrics.  she used buttons for the middle of the flowers.

Here is mine.  Made with mostly wool.  The two circles in the middle are cotton and fused with buttonhole.  I added the buttons to the middle of each flower.  This really worked up fast.  Thank goodness.  It was fun to do.  Now to find the perfect place for it.

So now for the give away.  I have a Nancy Halverson Panel and some green little scissors with flowers on them, of course.

To win, you must be a follower.  Please leave a comment.  I will choose on June 4th.

Good luck everyone!

And since I know you haven't gotten enough about flowers, please go see what the other hoppers are up to.  You won't be disappointed!  Promise!

A Little Bit of Lorene - you are here!
