He's is the Army now....

You know, I think we are a military family.  My Dad served in the Navy during the Korean war.  My Aunt Gloria served in the Air Force, then in the Army.  My Uncle John in the Air Force.  My cousin Steve in the Air Force.  Our oldest son Lee, in the Army.  My Brother in law a Marine.  so, yeah, I think we love our country.

My brother Dean, has 3 sons.  #2 is in the Army and is in Korea.  Now son #3 is going into the Army.  I think he has just arrived at Fort Leonardwood.

Last weekend we celebrated his going into the Army.  It was a lot of fun.  Very emotional. and very patriotic.

Our new Army dude, Bric and his Grandfather!

And 2 goof balls!  our son, Lee and my brother.  Wish I would have taken more pics!

Good luck Bric!  we know you will do great!  love ya kiddo!

I love suprises!

Hi everyone!  My daughter Trina called me.  she is our CA girl.  a good friend of hers was moving.  She had 2 treadle machines, did she want them?  oh yeah.  So Trina called me.  She said one was made in the late 1800's and the other one was made in 1949. Both Singers.   She wanted to keep the older one.  did I want the newer one?  hmmmmm, YES!!!

Now to get it to AZ.  My daughter Jenn - one of our AZ girls - had to make a quick trip over to CA.  She was going to be by Trina.  She brought it back for me.  Thank you Sweetie!

I understand that it is a series 15 - 88.  I think it was made in Scotland.  There are a few things that need to be done to it.  the belt needs to be tightened.  I need a bobbin case and bobbins.  I have plenty of needles.  The plate is loose on the front of the head.  And it needs to be cleaned.

It is a treasure for sure.  thank you Trina for sharing.  Thank you Jenn for picking it up and bring it home.  and thanks to my sweetie for not complaining about another machine!

Hugs....

Father's Day Celebrations

Hi everyone!  I know this is a few days late. But we did celebrate on Father's Day.  And that is what counts.

Bruce decided the menu:  sloppy Joe burros, lime jello with mandarin oranges and cool whip, mango salsa, guacamole, and butterscotch pudding.  All comfort foods.

My Dad was up where it is cool, so we didn't get to celebrate with him.  but I will see him this weekend.

Our AZ kids were all here.  so it was loud and busy, and crazy!  Love it!

A happy Grandpa with his grands!

Now how did Bruce get short?  I love these men!

And Bruce with some of our babies.

Now, when Melissa and Glen came with the boys, look who surprised us!

Gunner man, now known as Mini Mr. Clean.  That's better than what he called himself - Lex Luther from Superman.
And there you are.  It was a great day.  thanks for everyone who came over.  Thanks to our other kiddos who called, you were missed.

love you all....

A day with Lexi!

Hi everyone!  Lexi and got to spend a day together.  I gave her, her choice
of what we would do.  and guess what?  She wanted to sew.  Yeah!!!  So we decided on a potholder.  She wanted to use chili fabric, but I couldn't find where I put the chili fabric.  hmmmmm.....  but I did find some fabric that I used in her baby quilt.  that was 10 years ago!

I cut 9 3 1/2" squares. Lexie sewed them together.

then pinning the rows together....

Then she started to quilt it......

Then the dreaded hand sewing the binding.  Which she did a terrific job!

All done!

thanks for a fun day sweetie!  love ya!

A shopping we did go!

Hi everyone!  Toni and I felt bad that Cyndi didn't get to go with us to Olde World.  Cyndi felt bad she didn't get to go to Olde World.  So We all went to Olde World quilt shoppe!

This was my haul.  I know, more fabric!  but they are for specific projects.  the black and white is for borders.  the tan for a background.  The Valdani thread for a project, the Antiquing Spray - needed it.  And the wool kit was a spur of the moment purchase.  But Wool doesn't count in my stash report!  LOL....

The off to La Grande Orange.  Oh happy day! Cyndi hadn't eaten there before.  So what did we order?

Reuben's!  of course!  and French pancakes with crème fresh and strawberries.  Heavenly...  We were happy campers.  We also all brought home English muffins, and chocolate chip cookie sprinkled with sea salt.

Thanks girls, it was a very fun day!

Persian Pickle Club

Hey everyone!  Have you read Persian Pickle Club?  It's by  Sandra Dallas.  I have enjoyed all of her books.  she has a great sense of humor and  there is quilting involved. Did you know they are making a movie about this book?  They are!!!

HERE  is the website about the movie.

I recently took a survey about quilting.  the winner would receive a FQ bundle from 5 different lines of fabric from  P & B Textiles.

Well, guess what?  I won!!!  I can't believe it. oh boy!  And this is what they sent:
 a letter

The bundle!

I was so excited!  I promise I tore into  the plastic.  I wanted to see what they looked like!

earth tones by Norman Wyatt Jr  13 FQs

Hello dahlia  15 FQs

Silvia's Garden 14 FQs

Terra by Norman Wyatt Jr  20 FQs

Oh my gosh!!!  that is 74 FQs!  I am doing the happy dance, squealing with delight!  oh yeah!!!  life is good......  thank you Persian Pickle Club survey!  I sure can't remember where I took the survey.  but I generally leave comments or take surveys if there is a chance to win something.  And sometimes I win!  I ALWAYS leave comments on Pioneer woman's blog.  it's on my bucket list to win something from her.

I am a happy camper!  hugs....

Another Table Runner Swap is finished!

Hi Everyone!  We had another table runner swap over at The Quilted Table .  They have been so fun to participate in.  I have liked what I made and what I have been given.

This time I sent to a CA. girl and received from another CA girl!

This is what I sent Dianna.  You might be wondering what a target has to do with anything.  Well, Dianna has grands.  I found a fun tut for a marshmallow/pom pom catapult for kids to make out of tongue depressors, rubber bands.  My grands LOVE them.  so I sent them along to share with her grands.  It was fun getting everything together.

And here is what Cathy sent:

I feel like it was Christmas.  Everything was wrapped in really cute red/tan check paper.  There are no before pictures.  who has time for that!!!

Cathy sent lots of stuff for our celebration for the 4th.  napkins, coasters, plates, silverware, candies a cute wall hanging adorable headband that my granddaughters will be so jealous of and of course the really nice table runner.

Thank you Cathy, you are a sweetie for sure.  I appreciate all you did.  And so does my family!!  because this means a party is in the works.

Kneaders Macaroons

Hi Everyone!

When I was in grade school, ever once in a while they would serve coconut macaroons.  They were my favorite.  They were moist, chewy and oh so yummy.  I have spent years looking for a recipe.

When Mary and I went to lunch the other day, she mentioned she had gone to Kneaders.  She said she had the best macaroon.

This intrigued me.  could it be?  Will my quest be fulfilled?

so, I couldn't get it out of my mind, so I went looking for it.

They recently opened.  I have been seeing advertisements for it.  They even have a drive thru!

Well, I bought a few things.  The bread is for Bruce and so is the cinnamon roll.  the Napoleon is for Bruce and I to share.  The macaroon is there in the front, with chocolate and hazelnuts!  That's for me. no sharing.  It was the shape I remembered.  Well, I was going to take a another picture, but I took a bite and well, it was gone.  It tasted just like I remember.  Except the chocolate and hazelnuts.  But that just made it better.

Now I need to put it out of my mind.  Not a good place to go all the time.  too many temptations.  but they do have soups, salads and sandwiches.  Mary said everything was very good.  Maybe Bruce and I will go there and have something nutritious, and then take home a macaroon, that will not be shared........

Lady bug Twister - everything cut and sewn together.  now I need to cut apart and resew.
Barn Quilt
Mini Warm Winter Blessings BOW.

I think I need to explain some things!  LOL...  my fabric purchases seem kind of out of control.  It really isn't.  I promise!  when I buy fabric, just to buy, I buy 1/2 yard.  Usually.  lately I have been getting large amounts.  because in my stash, I don't have large pieces.  I am finishing things.  So I need borders or backings. Which are large purchases for me.  Right now, I have a quilt on the frame, one ready to go on the frame, and a small wall hanging ready to machine quilt on my 440.  I also have a quilt ready to bind, 2 small hangings to bind and 2 little wall hangings to add buttons and embellishments on. So next week - hopefully!  I will see my  numbers go up for fabric used year to date.

My friend Vicki and I are going to do the HO HO HO blog hop together.  We have several Christmas projects we have started and not finished.  soooooooo, we are going to see how many we can get done for next month.  So I won't be posting pics of those projects till we do the blog hop.  so watch out in July!!!

I finished this little wool penny rug this weekend.  it was a kit - a gift from Louise and Barb!  Thank you girls!!!  Now, I don't count wool in my fabric count.  it's different.  LOL.....  but I will count it as a finished UFO!

Have a great week sewing!

What I am working on

Hi everyone,  I had a great day today!  in fact a great week!  I had a little class at Scrapbook ETC, lunch with Cyndi, shopping - I know I was bad, again. Lunch with Mary, more shopping.  I can really explain!  needed backing for a quilt and some yardage for another.  I didn't buy anything that wasn't for a project.

Anyway,  I was working on my blessing quilt.  I was able to finish embroidering the last sashing strip, sew on the first border, and square up 128 2" half square triangles.  Now I need to make 52 more half square triangles and I can finish the 2nd border.

Does that look like 128 half square triangles? it is, I promise!

I promise I will share soon.  but things are coming along nicely.  Today I am off to 3 Dudes  to sew with Monica, Cyndi and Toni.  Yeah, still haven't decided what to work on, since I have so many to choose from.  but I will figure it out.

Hugs....
