I finished an UFO!  believe it or not!!!  Zoe's quilt.  5 yards was used.  It is 47 x 57.  I put minkee on the back, no batting.  I used a Baptist fan panto.  It was made in celebration of Zoe's baptism.  I should also tell you, that my friend Mardi made the top.  I have had the top for a while.  I have no idea when she made it.  So it was her UFO, that turned into my UFO, that turn into Zoe's quilt.

I have finished all but 1 rose.  I have lots more half sq triangles done.  so more pictures coming up.  just a quickie for today.  promise more later.  lots of family stuff going on.  all good.  really good.

hugs for now.....

I am sad......

Hi everyone!  as we were coming home, traveled through Globe.  On place we sometimes stop at is El Rays Mexican Restaurant.

their food is good.  but their chips?  Oh my gosh!!!!  super yummy.  they heat them up, drizzle butter over them.  so good!

I have been going there since I was a little girl.  it's very small.

well, as we were driving by, there was a fence surrounding the restaurant.  IT. WAS. CLOSED.  Sigh....., cry......, very upset.  Where I am going to get those wonderful chips?  Oh the memories that are in that building.

It is so sad when a tradition is gone.

I was sewing with red thread the other day.  I looked up and this is what I saw!

well, looky here!!!

the only problem?  this was an empty spool of black!  I need to sew some more red stuff!!!

It still feel good!

Stash Report 17

Hi everyone!  I am home!  yeah!!!  what a wonderful time I had with my parents.  it was so cool in the white mountains.  At least it was for me.  I know down in the valley it reached 109.  high in Showlow, 84.  That is a big difference.  Ok, back to business....

I got so much done this past week.  It was wonderful!  are you ready?

50 + flying geese.  these are for the scrappy stars I am working on.  all the components are now done.  I can start putting the quilt together!

47 baskets!  Not sure how many we are going to need yet.  but I have a really good start on them!

My Twinkler quilt blocks are all put together!  just have to decide on borders and do them.

my Spring Morning top is almost done!

Last year I did the Snowman Gatherings from Primitive Gatherings.  I did the small one.  Oh my goodness.  I really enjoyed making the blocks.  But, mercy, those 9 patches are cut 1" strips!  Am I crazy or what?  Just have to add 2 borders!  Then it can be quilted.  soooooo close......

I also finished about 160 half square triangles that Vicky from Vegas and I are exchanging.  I need to press and square up.  29 teeny tiny 4 patches for trail mix, that need to be pressed and organized.

I didn't get a picture of the blocks my mom made.  she is making a scrappy 16 patch with 2.5" squares.  I think she will need about 77 blocks.  And she is about half done.

I will post more about my little retreat with Mom, in the next day or so.  it was so very nice to be with my parents.  I was able to visit with my brother and his wife also.  They live up there year round.  I will go up again next month.

hugs all......

Happy Birthday Mardi!

Hi everyone!  We celebrating Mardi's birthday recently, since a couple of us were going out of town.  Yeah!  a party!  food! presents!  friends!  life is good......

This bag Cyndi made.  She always makes beautiful cards.

and this was inside.  Mardi LOVES red.  so a perfect choice!

Charlene is back, and made this for Mardi.  Love it!  pattern from Jenny Elefantz.

Jodi was there too.  She brought this yummy smelling candle for Mardi.  I know it had vanilla in it, but something else too.  It really smelled wonderful.

Toni brought this hanger for Mardi.  it's sideways, so it might look strange.  it swivels.  it will be perfect in Mardi's sewing room.

AZ Vicky made this. (I have two Vicki friends, a las vegas one and a AZ one. This way I will be able to keep them straight)  Mardi loved it!

Charlend present is in this huzzy bag!  I hope I don't offend anyone.  But anything sparkly, animal print, or combination in my book is hussified!  but only in a very good way!  LOL......

and here is a little peak at what I got for Mardi - red baskets, and fun things to organize - all red!  Did I mention that Mardi loves red?

And here us our group minus Jodi.  I forgot to retake the picture.  Sorry Jodi!

Oh where did we go?  zupas  everthing is very good!

Toni brought her BOW, so we could all see it.  it's from primitive gatherings

oh my goodness.  I decided against this.  but I think I am regretting my decision.  it is soooo pretty!  I love it!

It was such a nice way to spend the afternoon.  Love all these gals!

hugs....  Happy Birthday dear friend!

Stash Report 16

Just a quick note to let you know that I am sewing like a mad woman!  but up in the cool mountains visiting my parents.  So when I get home, I will have lots of pictures to share.

Poor hubby stayed home to work.

Here are a couple of things I worked on before I left.....

here are the 45 light blocks I made last week and the 45 dark blocks I made this week!

And the top laid out.  It does twinkle doesn't it?  I think my 1st border will be black, but after that I am not sure.  any suggestions?  It is going up to the mountains too.  OK, a funny side note.  see the light blocks?  a dark center with dark points.  see the dark blocks?  it should have a light center with light points.  oops!  I still like it.  it is a good mistake.  I like the way it twinkles!

this one I have had forever. In fact since 2005!  all the blocks were done.  all other pieces cut and measured.  I decided this is one I am taking with me up to the mountains.  hopefully I will come back with a finished top!  It is called Spring Morning - April 2005 McCall's quilting magazine.  Should end up about 76" x 80".

Another one is from 1999.  Mercy!  this one was a project with my Thornberries group.  we all fell in love with a civil war line of fabric.  and with this pattern.  the line -
the pattern from Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting magazine.  July/August 1999.  We all went to a quilt store, and each purchased one or two of the fabrics, but enough for 10.  I believe. not sure, because it has been so long!  it was all figured out, so that we paid the same amount.  Again all the pieces were cut, and then I stopped.  why?  it's going to be a gorgeous quilt.  so I have been sewing on it.  I have step 2 finished!!!!!finished.   283 sashing points units.  mercy!  but I did it...... no picture.  I am taking the next step up with me, so when I return, I can put the top together!

I also have been making basket blocks.  I am in a swap for them.  I am receiving 24 plus my 6.  the pattern calls for 72 blocks for a lap size quilt.  Vicki saw them and she loved them too.  So we are making more and trading.

I have finished 10!  aren't they the sweetest things........

It's the little things.....

What makes you happy?  me?  little things.  The other day, Hubby came home with ink for my printer.  He had told me he needed to go to Staples to pick up stuff for the office, so he would get the  ink for me too.  thank you sweetie.

the week before I asked for some large binder clips.  then forgot about them.  so when he came home he brought this:

RED large binder clips!!!  Oh my goodness, my heart be still.  It's the little things isn't it,  that just make our days!

thank you sweetie!

well, well, well,  zoe's quilt isn't quilted - yet!  but it will be.  but I have been busy!  No roses this week either.  But I am working on it.

My big accomplishment this past week it the cheddar that is pink quilt top is done!

It took 1 1/2 years to finish the top.  it's 103 x 115, I need to make sure of that measurement.  there are over 2700 2" squares.  My goodness!!!  I will get a better picture.  I was just so excited.  I did this as leaders and enders.  this is for our bed.  someday......

I have 45 light blocks done of the twinklers quilt.  I finished the dark squares with the light points. so soon they will be made into the dark blocks.

I worked on a few more things.  no rhyme or reason to anything.  just anything other than those dang roses.  what seems to be my problem?  I guess I have a mental block when it comes to them.  I will do an attitude adjustment this week!

A big Day for Andrew!

Hi everyone!  recently our grandson, Andrew decided he wanted to be baptized.  We are so excited for him!

the night before he was baptized Bruce, Grandma Carnes and I went over to see him.

We gave him a quilt!

Here is Andrew trying to fold up his quilt.  Hudson wanted to play, lay, and cuddle with it.  The other pictures I took of the quilt, well, they were just too dark.

I have been looking on pinterest for some baptism ideas for our grands.  we have 2 more coming up soon and Gunner is next year.  I wanted to find something special.

I found this idea for a towel.  to dry off after they are baptized.  I loved it.  1 down, 2 more to go!

Here is our young man!

Here is Uncle David holding Hudson, Andrews little brother.

And Melissa, Glen (proud parents) and Andrew.

there were so many people there.  I can't believe I didn't get more pictures.  lots of family, friends, scouts, there was a good turn out.  Andrew felt very loved.

We love you Andrew!!!
