I should have been sewing!!!

hi again, I have been playing with my cricut! more than anything I want to make a grandmother's flower garden quilt. been thinking about it forever! do I need another project - NO!!! but I was thinking I could cut out the templates with my cricut. well this afternoon, I finally sat down and figured it out! I used the program Sure Cuts Alot. I can now cut out 21 templates at a time. I am sooo excited! AND I really feel smart for doing it! Kay and Scrappy Dew on the SCAL4beginers yahoo group helped me figure it out. Now to cut the templates, get out some of my 30's fabric, and I will have my little kit ready to go. Now if you want the template, they are scut files. you will have to email me to get them. I have no idea how to do it any other way! doing the happy dance here!!

yeah!!

Swimmin' with the kiddos!

The water was just a tad nippy, but the kiddos didn't seem to mind. I thought the hottub was the best, but a little too warm for the kiddos! Gunner took a dunk or two, Zoe walked around a lot, Miss no fear Lexi jumped right in and Demi helped to herd the whole bunch! it was nice and relaxing. Now I am home to do some things around here and make Robin's yummy banana muffins again! Bruce wants to take them to his families that he home teaches.
enjoy your day...

Hey everyone, we got back safe and sound. we had lots of fun at Quilter's Outpost. we got quite a bit done on our blocks. we both are doing hand stitching.
afterwards we went to a little scrapbook store - WOW!!! next time - bring money. awesome store. then to scoops for ice cream - YUMMO!! the drive was beautiful, relaxing and the weather was perfect!!!! what made it fun was Cyndi brought her Bruce's little red car!

as we were coming down the hill - we were going just a little fast, not bad! a business plumbing van zoomed past us. we both laughed and said he is going to get a ticket. Yep, just a mile or so down the road, Mr. Sherriff was waiting just for him. bummer.... we are just glad it wasn't us!

Yummy Banana Muffins!

I promised my TB group I would share my banana muffin recipe. I work with Robin at A Quilter's Oasis and she made these muffins one day and brought them in. Kathy and I really enjoyed them and had way too many! But they were soooooo good! Robin said I could share, so now the whole world can make these yummy muffins!

Robin's Banana Muffins

3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 cup mashed rip bananas (2 large)
1/3 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger (the first time I used all spice, and they were great too)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup chopped, unsalted walnuts (or macadamia nuts for a tropical flavor, or I used pecans)
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

preheat oven to 375. line a 12 cup muffin pan with paper liners; set aside. combine granulated sugar and butter in a large bowl. beat using an electric mixer set on medium speed until light and fluffy. beat in eggs one at a time. add bananas and sour cream; beat until well blended.

combine flour, baking soda, ginger and salt in a medium bowl; mix well. add flour mixture to batter stir just until combined. (I did this part by hand. Be gentle).

divided batter among prepared muffin cups, filling about 2/3 full. combine nuts and brown sugar; sprinkle evenly over batter (I usually don't use all of the sugar and nuts). bake muffins until tops spring back when lightly pressed, about 25 minutes (check at 20 minutes). cool on wire rack. EAT WHEN WARM. EXTREMELY ADDICTING!

enjoy....

what are you doing for father's day?

hey everyone! I love watching cooking shows. I have always love reading cookbooks. I have been a collector of cookbooks. One of my fav cooking shows is Paula Dean! I was watching her the other day and she was making Lowcountry Smothered Pork Chops. boy did they sound yummy. well, I have made them twice and both times Bruce just about licked his plate. So that is what I am fixing for father's day next sunday. I am sure the boys and my father will love them too! so here you go:

Lowcountry Smothered Pork Chops or as I will call them: Plate Lickin' Chops

4 pork chops
salt and freshly ground pepper
ground cayenne pepper (use very sparingly if you don't want it hot and spicy)
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup all purpose flower, spread on a plate
2 medium green bell peppers, stemmed, cored and membranes removed, cut into strips
2 yellow onions, trimmed, cut lengthwise
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth
2 to 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce

trim the excess fat from the chops and season will with salt, pepper, and cyenne. melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Lightly roll the chops in flour, shake off excess, and slip them into the pan. Brown well, about 3 minutes per side, and remove them to a plate.

add the bell peppers andnonions, to the skillet, and saute until softened, about 3 minutes. stir in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about half a minute longer. push the vegetables to the side of the skillet. add chops to pan and place vegetables on top of pork chops. pour in the broth and sprinkle with Worcestshire sauce. cover pan with foil - I just used the lid - and allow to simmer for 45 minutes or until chops are tender.

I promise your man will love this!!! enjoy....
