Stash Report 24

Hi everyone,  I have been up to visit my parents.  Mom and I sewed up a storm.

It was sooo beautiful up in the cool mountains.  a couple of days it was cold enough to turn the heat on and not be on the porch to sew!  so hand work was done and old movies. 

Twas the night before Christmas stitchery.  I finished 5 blocks.  I am working on the large one now.  the last block!  yeah!!!! 


I finished this top - Aunt Edna's.  The pattern is from a quilt store that recently closed.  In my Thornberries group we traded the 16 patches, oh, a, several years ago!  maybe 6 or 7 years, maybe more! 


It has one more butter yellow border.  then I think I will add a wider red print border and scallop it!  What do you think? 

My mom put together this top - a Baby Genius kit my friend mardi gave me.  My brother Ron and his wife are expecting.  We are so happy for them!  Mom had so much fun sewing this.  Thanks mardi!

I worked on my 9 patches and Arkanas Crossroads blocks.  Just did more! 

I enjoyed my time with my parents.  It's a little piece of heaven....

A new baby!!!

Hi Everyone!  I just got back from the glorious White Mountains.  Oh my, it was heaven!!!  More pictures and a stash report tomorrow!

On our way home yesterday, our daughter in law was in the hospital for the delivery of our newest grand!  early this morning the little guy arrived.

Oh my heart be still.  I can't wait to meet this little man.  I can't get up there till September 4th.  But who is counting the days.....  Mom and baby are doing great.  I understand he came out screaming.  Mom and Dad and baby are very tired.

Happy Birthday Lee!!!!

A long time ago, in a hospital no longer here, a baby boy was born!  At the time I was reading about Vikings.  why?  I have no idea!!  but children were named after their parents.  Example:  Lief was a son of Erik.  So, he took the name Lief Erikson. 

My middle name is Lee.  It was from one of my Grandmothers.  So wanting my little baby to have a unique and special name, He became Leeson. 

Well, that baby has grown into a very fine man.  A loving father,  A loving son.  He always watches out for me.  A very hard worker.  A kind man.  A knowledgeable man.  A good man. 

And were does this fine man want to go for his birthday dinner?  Mattas Mexican food.  It's his day, so that's where we go.  He has lots of really special memories there.

Did I say he has a great sense of humor?  We couldn't get a regular picture.....



 
but some of the grands cooperated!

Stash Report 23

Hi everyone!  here we go.........

Well, I got a few things done this week.  Last week the AZ grands started school, so we will be on a schedule again.  Gunner and I went to buy Batman fabric for a kindle cover.  he wants to sew it!  I forgot to take a picture.  He was so exited, he told everyone what we were going to do.  And that his grandpa's name is Bruce Wayne.  He loves his Grandpa and loves Batman!!! 

I finished the top of the red/denim churndash.  yeah!  not sure what I will back it with.  I want to use it as a picnic quilt.  or give it to one of the kids.  we will see.  it finished as 55 x 62. 


This came together so quickly!  I got the idea from Quilt Taffy.  Thanks for such a great idea!!! 

I added rows  6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 to my tumbler quilt.  All the rows are done and now to finish sewing the rows together!!! 


So I have some ironing to do. 

I brought out an OLD UFO.  it was a swap from my Thornberries group.  I needed 71 snowball blocks and then 26 rectangles that two of the corners were done like snowball blocks.  I had 20 snowball blocks finished.  well, all 71 blocks are done. and I also finished 26 rectangle blocks.   all the 16 patches are done.  I ran out of the yellow Kona Cotton, so off I went to the store.....  they had the same yellow, but slightly lighter.  I really do not think that will be a problem. 



I joined another swap.....  I know, so bad!  I have to do 100 sets of 9  patches.   a set is 2 blocks.  dark in the corners and light in the corners.  I have 10 sets finished.  they are not due until October 1st.  so I am doing good....


Last year in Thornberries we did the evening star in 30s. we traded the 9 patch part and then 3 1/2" squares for the points on the block.  We figured that everyone one wanted different backgrounds.   this year I was in another swap for the same block in my yahoo 30s group.  these are completed blocks.  so I need 288 flying geese units to finish making the Thornberries blocks.  this week I finished a lot of them.  I need to count them up!  I have 84 finished.  that will make 21 blocks!  wow! 


 
These are all the waste half square triangles. I will have enough for maybe a small quilt!  yeah!!!  a freebie quilt!

I also finished quilting my grandson's sock monkey quilt. 



 I also started testing a quilt for quilt doodles!  yeah!!!  it's already to put together.....
I will have pictures of that next week.  I am really liking how it is turning out.  blues and yellows, half square triangles, sunflowers, what's not to love!!!

And another UFO is loaded onto my HQ16!  yeah!!!

First day of school

hi everyone!  last week my AZ grands started school.  Lee and Zoe came over so we took pictures.

A Finish!!!

Hi everyone!  I have a new grandson that should arrive towards the end of the month.  A new baby!  oh, that just thrills my heart.  I am so excited for Ashton and Elena.  this will give them two girls and two boys.  even Stephen! 

But I do have a problem with that.  Up until this new little one arrives, we are even with our grands.  10 boys and ten girls!  So someone needs to step up to the plate and have this little red haired girl I have dreamt about for several years!  Melissa and Glen are the ones that have the red headed babies, so it must mean them, right?  But Ashton and Elena could have a red head.  hmmmmm,   I wonder what they think? 

Anyway, a while back I had the opportunity to test a pattern for Quilt doodle doodles  and I LOVED the pattern.  perfect for this new little guy! 

I just pulled it off my HQ16.  and it's squared up.  I just need to cut the binding and bind it, and it will be ready for the little guy. 


isn't that the perfect quilt for a new little holbrook boy?  I backed it with brown fleece, no batting.  they live up in ID where it SNOWS!  and gets cold.  Remember I am a AZ girl and don't understand these things......  I found the cutest panto at Urban Elementz  .  it's sock monkey! 


I used so fine thread from Superior threads.  it was a very soft yellow.  I think it turned out well. 

I love quilt doodles patterns, they are easy, quick, and fun to make.  I have several of her patterns.  AND I get to test another pattern for her.  this time Sunflowers.  I have everything cut, and hopefully this weekend I will get the top together.  I am really looking forward to it. 

The quilt finished at 51" square.  I used a total of 5 yards.  it is not a UFO.  but it is finished!  and that is still a very good thing.

My machine is huzzied up!


Hi everyone!  I always find fun things on blogs.  good ideas!  things I didn't know I needed.  New projects.  Blogs are my friend.  Blogs are NOT my friend! 

I follow Aunt Polly's Porch  She always is working on something fun, or has something I want to do too. 

The other day, she mentioned Zindee Studios . And I had to have it!

Thank you Aunt Pollly for sharing and for Sherrell for doing the vinyl and such quick service.  I am doing the happy dance!!!  I almost ordered the vinyl in pink, but was afraid that it would show as well  So I went safe.  I still love it.  it makes me smile.  It makes me happy! 

Now, I am going to sew, and smile, and be happy!   hugs.....
