Barn Quilt: all fabric bought
Mini Warm Winter Blessings BOW: finished block 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are prepped for hand sewing.  OK, I have looked for 2 weeks and I can't find them!  I am about ready to go and buy the fabric and start over with #8 and 9.  I know as soon as I buy more fabric, I will find them.... sigh......  Bought new fabric and some wool.  now to reprep!  OK,   I found them!  I knew I would.  Now I can finish the blocks!  blocks are done!
Broomstick Hollow:  Cyndi and I are working on this together.  I am cutting up my oranges for it.   Oranges and blacks are all cut.  I can start sewing! all houses and pinwheels are done.  now for the stars!  stars are done!
Blessings of Spring - rebloomed BOM:  blocks #1, 2, 3, 4 done.
Wool tulip basket table mat:  all ready fused and ready to do the hand part
Scrappity do dah:  in Thornberries we have started a new swap.  you can find the pattern HERE.  there are 4 of us swapping.  all my blocks are done! 
Scrappy CheddarBut mine is PINK!!!  I follow Tattered Garden.  I fell in love with this quilt.  I look where I keep all my scrappy precut squares and mercy, the 2" drawer is over flowing.  So I am using this as a leader ender project!  I have lots of 2 patches, 6 patches and 14 patches done.  I have probably 10 blocks done.  I feel good how the project is going.....  I can't believe this, but I need to cut more 2" squares.  oh my!

Aaaaahhhhhh, cool mountain air!

Hi everyone!  I have spent the week in Williams, AZ.  It was cool.  Cool enough for me to have several quilts on the bed and wool socks on my feet!  I spent the week with Vicki.  We were madly working on fun Halloween projects!  for the Wicked bloghop in October.  we had a wicked good time.  there was only a couple of slight problems.  I. Got. Sick.......  sigh......  what a bummer. 

we did manage to get a few things done.  didn't get as many pictures as I hoped.  But Vicki was a wonderful hostess and took good care of me.  I just hope she doesn't get sick...... 

I left yesterday, on my way towards Flagstaff, this is what I saw:

 
This is September 27th.  about 10AM in the morning.  In AZ.  In September. Sorry, I already said that.  that white stuff is SNOW!!!!!  Don't get me wrong.  It snows here.  Elevation is about 7000 ft  in this area.  But September?  In AZ? Mercy, does that mean it's going to be a cold winter? 

It was a treat to see.  It's always a treat to see mountains, pines and snow all at the same time! 

So I won't be sharing any pictures of the projects.  You have to wait till the end of October.  Sorry.  But it will be soooo worth it. 

BTW, on the way home I called my Dr.  I got to drop by to see him on the way home.  Strep, double ear infections and Bronchitis.....  sigh......  I have the mother lode.  How old am I?  You do remember I am only 29, right?  LOL......

Hubby is taking good care of me.  the cats are nearby in case they are needed.  I have a quilt to keep me warm.  and some hot soup and hot herbal tea.  oh yeah, life is good.....

Trip to Tucson

September is the annual Craft and sewing show down in Tucson.  So off to Tucson Cyndi, Toni and I went.  We hadn't been down there for a couple of years.  This show is much smaller than the Phoenix one.  This one you get in for free AND free parking.  I like!    It seemed bigger and better attended this time too. 

We did find a few things.  Don't you think?  see the wood heart thing on top of the seat? 

That is a beautiful quilt stand.  Made from 100 year old barn wood.  Just beautiful. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the whole stand.  maybe later......




this is what I bought.  or some of it. 



See that bright light?  Remember talking about my new light for my machine? Well, they had another product I fell in love with!  a small light that hangs around your neck.   There isn't a photo of it on their web site.  too bad.  It's very light weight.  so it's very comfortable.  the strap attaches by a magnets on either side.  You can adjust the light to shine where you want it.  it uses 2 AA batteries.  And the price was good.  I also bought a backing for a new BOM I will be starting in November. 

All in all, a great little trip with really good company!  Thanks girls and thanks Toni for driving!  ya did good......

Sewing Day with a visitor!

Hi everyone!  last week or so,  we all went to Toni's to sew.  I didn't get many pictures, in fact just 2!  Yikes, what's going on with that? 

anyway, Charlene came to sew and Jodi!  Cyndi was back from her travels and I had just gotten back.  All we were missing was Mardi.  It was so good to see everyone. 

Toni made the best Mexican food.  She is the best cook.  Sorry no pictures. 

Toni has miniature horses.  out on the patio was little Ariel.  We were watching her explore everything.  Toni opens the door to talk to her and who walks right into the house?  Ariel!!  She walked around the island, found the cat food.  Toni took it away. 


                                    



So then she walked right back out the door.  No treats?  So no sticking around!  What would be the point?  LOL.......

Happy Anniversary!

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago, Bruce and I celebrated our 38th anniversary.  where has the time gone? 

We celebrated by going to My Big Fat Greek Restaurant.  We love that place!  and so very good. 

Then a couple of weeks later, our AZ kids took us out to dinner - Osaka!  oh boy!!!  we love good Japanese food.

Sushi!  Shrimp I can eat - it's not raw.  but the rest, well, no.  it's not the taste, it's the texture.  just don't care for it.  but Bruce LOVES it.  Jenn, David, and Glen all tried it and liked it.  the rest, hmmmmm, no......
 
 
Miso Soup.  hmmmmm, good!  I need to learn how to cook this.  Especially on a cold night or when we might have a cold, or just because! 
 
 
Our dinner included fire!
 
 
 
and a smoking onion.....
 
Everything was so good.  thank you kids for taking us to dinner.  It was wonderful.  The company, the food, everything!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  You guys are the best!  Love you all.

A little bit of Booeverything cut, all blocks are sewn. Traced and ready to embroider.  1st 2 rows are completely done and sewn together!  Top is done!
Mom's 9 patch block qltall blocks are done (100), all sashing sewn to one side, 2 complete rows sewn together.  Top is completed. it's 104 x 104

Mom's red and cream quilt:  When I left, Mom had all the rows sewn together.  She was going to work on the sashing and putting the quilt together!

turned into a scrappy block.  I love them!  I made about 5 blocks and have lots more to finish.  not sure of the size yet.  So if you are wanting to swap some 2" squares, give me a holler!  I have several people asking if I will embroider in the center square.  hmmmmm, not sure yet on that either.  Good idea though. 


this is scrappity - do - dah.  The swap with Thornberries.  well, I thought 6 people were swapping.  there are 4.  cutting 1 strip of batik the WOF, gave me 7 6.5 squares.  so in my mind, I might as well make the 7th block I will just make my quilt a little bit bigger.  ok.  well, I made 62 set of 7!  I only needed sets of 4!!!  Yikes!!!  I am going to make a much bigger quilt!  LOL...  I will share pictures of the block later.  They were sooo pretty.  I am anxious to start putting the blocks together.  not sure how long we will be swapping on this one....... 
 
 
Well, next week I will be spending with Vicki.  In Williams.  In the cool mountain air.  By ourselves!  Sewing, and sewing, and sewing!  All Halloween stuff.  We are getting ready for the Wicked blog hop.  She signed me up!  LOL.....  She knows me so well...  I love Halloween.  So lets see how much we can get done.  Now, I have lots of Halloween UFOs and we are starting a few new ones.  Wish us luck!

Lexi?

I am a very lucky Grandmother.  I get to pick up some of my grandchildren from school.  this makes it so I get to see them 3 times a week.  I get to see my children 3 times a week when they pick their children up!  Sneaky I know......

Well, sometimes we do things, sometimes we do nothing.  Usually what happens is homework. 

the other day, I was working on the computer and I heard Zoe laughing.  I looked up and saw Lexi.  This is what I saw! 


Oh my gosh!  She was so serious doing her homework.  Too funny, Lexi!

I won!!!

Hi everyone!  I follow a lot of blogs.  I almost always will sign up for give aways.  And sometimes I win.  which is always a fun way to start the day, when checking emails - Winner! 

This time I was reading Chris W Designs  This time she was interviewing Robin 

Chris has been interviewing different bloggers/pattern designers and it's been very interesting.  I have really enjoyed getting to know more bloggers.

Shabby Roses Beauty Mystery Qlt:  center block prepped, and hand embroidery started.   OK, I have seen the whole quilt and well, I am not thrilled with it.  so, I decided, I am not going to finish it.  I am just not head over heels in love.  I haven't even half finished with the 1st block.  so I am not vested in this project. it's pretty, and a lovely quilt.  but I have lots more to work on. 

 
These two pictures are my Blessings of spring BOM.  I just got #5 and 6 today in the mail!  Now, the first 3 rows I took apart and rearranged.  I didn't like that my bird would be flying off the quilt.  All because I forgot to trace the pieces backwards.  Why do designers not automatically do that?  sigh.....



This is my mother's 3rd quilt.  she wanted scrappy.  the 9 patches are 3 1/2" squares.  it's 104" square.  Too big for me to quilt on my HQ16.  I think this is her favorite one so far.  I think she did a terrific job!  Next quilt is a chevron with half square triangles.  she is a little worried, but she can do it.  All the squares came from my stash, already cut.  We had to buy the sashing. 


You want to hear something funny?  I usually do not make anything much larger than a full size.  Normally a throw size.  But my Mom, she wants KING size!  That just makes me laugh.  And so far very little fabric has bought.  just backings, some sashings, and that's about it.  Has it made a dent?  hmmmmm.... No.  oh well...  We will keep plugging away.
