A productive day

Hey everyone! I forgot to post this picture in my last post. it also is from the civil war love letters book. this block is march to the mountains. I really am having fun making these blocks. they are all paper pieced. today was a gift! the plans we had fell through. so I declared it a pajama day! Bruce put my last shelf together for under my HQ16. organized a little, did laundry and SEWED!!! it felt wonderful. I finished the top for the #1 UFO, just about finished my star blocks, finished loading a quilt on the frame and did 2 rows, AND finished the first block of Christmas Twitterings. life is really good..... in the next few days I will post more pictures. I am starting the binding on a friends quilt.

Civil War Love Letters and Barbara Brackman

Hi everyone! how is it I can't say no? I have been trying very hard not to get into Civil War fabric. at first I didn't like it, too dark. then we started getting all this civil war fabric in. there were pretty pinks, and browns, and blues, and greens. sigh..... so far I have been pretty good about not buying very much. very little actually. I am woman! well, Mardi came in with a BOM she was doing from Kentucky. it was called Civil War Love Letters. that intrigue me. hmmmmm..... saw the book, I found it very interesting. sooooo, I bought it, joined the yahoo group. here is her blog: Rosemary She just started her blog. there are free patterns there. pretty cool. Anyway, Cindy at work wanted to do this quilt. sigh...... so did I, BUT I didn't want to buy any fabric. so Cindy and I struck a deal. I print everything out. I gave her all my civil war fabric I had and all my background. Cindy has a lot of civil war fabric. so she cuts out the kits. here are our blocks so far....

UFO's

So far this month I have finished 2 UFO's! yeah!!! This is Abundance. this is another project that Vicki and I were to do last summer. the great thing about this quilt is that I pieced it, quilted it, and bound it! That felt pretty good. this one is a kaleidoscope quilt. It was a class I took at A Quilter's Oasis, probably 2 years ago. I love the big pink roses. so pretty..... I did not do the quilting on the one.
So I think this is a good start on my UFO's. I have another quilt on the frame and hopefully will get it done this month.

My Birthday

i had a birthday last month. how old am I? let's just say I am 29 for the 2nd time. Lexi asked me how old I was. I asked her how old do you think I am. She thought for a while...... big smile and said 13! I laughed and told her 29. do you think that is old Lexi? no way, my Grandma isn't old! very well said Lexi my dear! I love you forever.

I thought I would show you a couple of things I recieved for my birthday. this is a pillowcase from my friend Cyndi. you have to click on the pic to make it bigger. this makes me smile everytime I see it! Bruce looked at it and said, I have never seen hussy quilters before! LOL.....
And the pretty card she made...... Thank you Cyndi! you are a sweetie.....
Jenn ad her family and Bruce and I all went to see Harry Potter. EXCELLANT movie BTW..... Lexi surprised me with this. a bracelet for me! Thank you Lexi! you are a sweetie too..... I wear it every day.

One of the things I recieved from Bruce was a giftcard from Barnes and Noble. I recieved a pan digital novel from him for christmas. I was se excited about the reader. I immediately started downloading books. how fun......
I really didn't want to go out for dinner, or celebrate or do nothing. Just wanted to stay home, sew a bit and veg out. I had a great birthday. there were phone calls and more presents, a special surprise from my parents. all in all a very nice day! Thank you everyone! love you all.....

Oops! it's been a while......

I can't believe it has been a month almost since I last blogged. sorry about that! things have been so busy, it's been hard to keep up with everything. so part of my goals for this year is to blog at least every Sunday. but in the next few days there will be a blog every day. So I am starting out with Thornberries.... we met last week. everyone was there! Even Terry got to call us from CA. It was such a relaxing day, I didn't get all the pics I wanted to. Judy finished two tops that were darn cute. but no pics..... sigh...

Anyway, on Judy Liquidara (I am sorry, but I know I didn't spell it right and I don't have her blog address - I know bad blogger! well, on her blog she has a challenge. everyone who wanted to participate chose 12 UFO's. once a month she will draw a number. that is the UFO you are to work on for the month. So we decided to do that in TB. We picked 11. so on our TB day we will draw a number and work on that UFO. we picked 11 since we met on the 2nd Friday. the number this time is 1. can you believe that?

This is my number 1. 12 blocks. and guess what? it's a Christmas quilt! It's one that Vicki and I were to do last summer. well, Vicki's quilt is done and gifted. mine - still blocks. but it will be done by our next meeting......
Here is Judy, Louise and Bobbi.......
Terry S, Sue, Barb and Mindy!

it was a very relaxing, fun day. Thanks gals. I needed a day just like that!
