A Day(s) with grands!

Hi everyone,  I am such a bad grandma.  Me, who loves taking lots of pictures of my grands, took hardly any!  Bad Grandma!!!! 

the grands had spring break recently,  I like to spend a day with each of them that live here. 

First off was Gunner and Andrew.  no pictures.....  the day was full of going to the movies, playing yatzee, going to McDonalds. 

then Zoe came the next day.  Off to see Into the woods, Taco Bell and getting manicures!  While Zoe was here, she did my St Patrick's Day Chalkboard!

Great job sweetie! 

When we got home I put some Jamberry Nails on her index fingers.  First time I tried them.  fun, later will be my turn. 

then the following day was Lexi.  We had planned to go to the movies too.  she wanted to see Paddington.  Well, I was doing some things around the house.  When I came into the family room, our girl was sawing logs.  She was sound asleep!  So I just let her sleep. 

Next time I came into the family room she was gone.  I heard voices coming from my MIL apartment and went in there.  They were putting a puzzle together.  They spent the whole day at it. 

 

that was the only picture I got.  I told you I was a bad grandma!  thanks to my Grands I had a wonderful week.  I hope they did....

Another program.....

this past week, Gunner man had his 3rd grade program.  it was about kids finding a box and using their imagination.  Very cute and lots of dancing going around.

Volleyball!

My granddaughter Lexi is playing volleyball at the YMCA.  she loves it!  This was her last game.  I can't believe we only got to one game.  He team - the pink panthers!  won 2 of the 3 games.  They really did well...

Hmmmmmm, Oatmeal cookies!

Hi everyone!  do you like fresh, homemade, warm oatmeal cookies?  Oh yeah!

The other day Melissa brought her boys over uber early in the morning for me to take to school.  she had to be at work at 6 AM, and Glen had to go out of town at 4 AM.  So at 5AM, here comes the grands! 

Gunner was asleep on the couch, Andrew on one of the recliners and Hudson in my arms in the other recliner.  It didn't take us long to go back to sleep.  At 7:15 Bruce woke us up.  While I helped the boys get dressed, Bruce made scrambled eggs.  They wolfed those eggs down, especially Hudson.  2 fisted eating! 

Anyway, as we were talking, Gunner wanted to know if I knew how to make cookies.  I knew they were coming back over after school, so I said yes, we could make them when they came back.  I asked, Doesn't mommy make cookies?  No, she doesn't know how!!!  Oh Gunner!  Melissa is a good cookie maker.  She works full time, so cookies don't always get made. 

Anyway, they all came back after school and we proceeded to make cookies, or rather grandma did, and Mom (Melissa) helped a lot, LOL....... 

We decided on Sister Cunningham's Favorite Cookies in the Whole World!  Many years ago, while living in CA., the sister missionaries came often, and usually brought us these cookies.  I begged for the recipe.  Sister Cunningham had the recipe memorized.  She shared with me, and I will share with you!

This recipe make about 9 dozen cookies!

Sister Cunningham's Favorite Cookies in the Whole Wide World!

 

2 cups softened butter

2 cups sugar

2 cups brown sugar

4 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

4 cups flour

5 coups oatmeal

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 teaspoon baking powder

1 bag milk chocolate chips (I usually use Ghirardelli's but this time used mini chocolate chips)

 

Cream butter and sugars.  Add eggs.  Mix, then add vanilla, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and flour.  Then add chocolate chips.  Drop by spoonfuls to an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 9 - 12 minutes.  DO NOT over bake.  The less you bake , the softer they are.  Store in airtight container.

Oh McD's how we love thee!

This past weekend Melissa, Glen and Lee wanted to go and see the new Star Trek movie.  So Bruce and I got to babysit the grands!  So where did we go?  McD's so they could play! 

we found out that Hudson LOVES French fries!

 

We were able to get Zoe and Gunner to sit long enough to eat, then off they went to play.  Then ice cream was in order.  Yum!  I think Gunner is trying to wink, lol....

We did learn one more thing.  You know the little tiny child cones they give out?  Well, it wasn't enough for Hudson.  he ate the whole thing.  And wanted more! 

Now when the movie was over and they came to collect the grands, Melissa and I went and had some special time. 

 



I had a pedicure, sigh, bliss, heaven, perfect!  Melissa had her nails done.  We did have some excitement.  I dropped my phone in the water.  shhhhhhh, please don't tell my husband, or my son, or my son in laws.  They might give me a hard time since this, maybe, isn't the first time.  Well, this is the first time at the nail shop.  I maybe, have dropped it a time or two into water, or washer, or a drink.  Maybe.  But no one is counting are they?  it's not a habit or anything, really. 

Then, off to Nando's for some yummy Mexican food.  we were celebrating Barbie's birthday.  It was nice to visit, laugh and enjoy good food all together. 

It was a good day!

Gunner Graduates!

Hi everyone!  Our little Gunner has graduated kindergarten.  Amazing!  Not that we were worried.  He is a very smart little guy.  It's that he is growing up.  All my grands are getting older.  So many changes are happening for them all.  Our third oldest grandson is waiting for his paper work for his mission call.  Our first grandchild to go on a mission.  We are truly blessed.

Anyway,  Gunner's school has a computer program for the kids.  It's called Success Maker. There are 3 levels to the program:  bronze, copper and gold.  The 6th grade and kindergarten class finished the program.  That meant that they had learned what they were suppose to learn for the year.  Awesome!  Well, the kids wanted more, so they had to come up with 3 more levels.  The kids came up with platinum, titanium, and diamond.  I would say that 3/4 of the class attained diamond.  unbelievable!  that meant they had exceeded a year past what they were to learn.  The principle counted to see which class had more diamonds. the 6th grade or the kindergarten classes.  I think there are 4  classes in each of those grades.  Gunner's class won with the most Diamonds.  That is one smart class!  We all are so proud of all those kiddos and their accomplishments.

They had a sweet program, the kids sang, the principle talked.  handed out certificates.  They all looked so very precious.
