Pretty Nails

Hi everyone!  The other day Jenn, Demi, Julia and Lexi went for pedicures and nails.  Trina and I were doing something else.  When everyone came back, This is what Lexi had done......

She was so excited to show me.  Oh my, I think I might have influenced her a bit!  for the good, definitely!!!  Lexi is in the process of earning a sewing machine.  I have a little brother machine, and once a week she comes over to help me do stuff.  Such as, straighten my fabric shelves, put away fabric, use the go cutter to cut scraps, etc, etc....  She needs a total of 25 hours.  She is about 1/3 of the way there.

She works for me in the morning and in the afternoon, she gets to know her machine.  Last time she came we cleaned the machine.  Lexi is a very detailed type of person, so the machine got a really good cleaning.

Lexi has an older brother, Justin, who she loves very much.  she wanted to make a pillowcase for him for his birthday that is coming up.  Well, I hate to admit it, but I bought some drum fabric with the idea of making a pillowcase for Justin.  like a couple of years ago..... bad grandma.  At least I had it for Lexi to use.

oops!  Lexi got to use the serger AND her machine.  I thought I took a picture of her with her machine, but no....  oops!

she is thrilled, Mom was thrilled and I am sure brother will be too!

hugs....

A day with Lexi!

Hi everyone!  Lexi and got to spend a day together.  I gave her, her choice
of what we would do.  and guess what?  She wanted to sew.  Yeah!!!  So we decided on a potholder.  She wanted to use chili fabric, but I couldn't find where I put the chili fabric.  hmmmmm.....  but I did find some fabric that I used in her baby quilt.  that was 10 years ago!

I cut 9 3 1/2" squares. Lexie sewed them together.

then pinning the rows together....

Then she started to quilt it......

Then the dreaded hand sewing the binding.  Which she did a terrific job!

All done!

thanks for a fun day sweetie!  love ya!

Visiting and an Emergency!

Jenn and David came to visit everyone while I was here in CA. Julia had bought some curly hair extensions and was fooling around with every one's hair. Isn't Lexi cute? it looks sooo real.... here is belle and Julia. She loved the curls....
here is my handsome grandson Logan. He loves the outside! he is out there as much as possible. Well........ just as Jenn, David and Lexi were arriving, Logan was outside on his scooter. he fell.... he was in shorts. and of course his knee hit a rock just right! OUCH!!!

it was quite deep. took a big chunk out of his knee. Now, if you know me, you know I don't do blood. Logan was quite protective of me and kept saying, Grandma don't look. after Trina cleaned it up, she asked me to check it out to see if it needed stitches, OK, deep breath... breathe...... OK, look! oh owie!!! it looked pretty deep to me too. so off to the doctors they went. however, Mike's truck was in the shop, Mike had Trina's car, so Jenn and David took Logan and Trina! LOL..... No stitches. the rock took everything away, so there was nothing to stitch. also, being the knee he would have pulled the stitches out. that sounds pretty bad. so they cleaned it really well. I am sure that it hurt more than the stitches would have. through it all, Logan did just fine. very brave.

Jenn and family left Sunday after a big yummy breakfast. it was great to see them....
love ya kiddos....

Road to Shambala..........

Jen and David will be moving soon and Saturday they had to sign the paperwork. Our Lexi girl didn't want to do that, so she and I had Lexi day! yeah!!! do you remember the song - here the road to shambala by 3 dog night? well, I feel it is my moral obligation to teach my grandchildren about good music - namely from the 70's! LOL..... so during our time together I will pick a song and we listen to it a lot. and we sing along. they have fun with their silly grandma. this time it was road to Shambala. we listened to it probably a couple a dozen times. we were both rocking to the music! LOL.....

anyway, cupcakes are so popular now. and there is a cupcake place by where Lexi leaves. Cupcake Cafe. we decided to go there. it was a very cute shop. the cupcakes where - OK. we bought 3 for $6.50. Mint chocolate, German chocolate and red velvet. they were pretty, but just OK.

Next we went to the movies to see Toy Story 3. Lexi had never seen it. how did that happen? so off we went to the $3 movie theater in Tempe. Lexi wanted her picture with Elvis! we had a great time!
Thanks Lexi for a fun afternoon! love you sweetie.....

a few days with lexi!

Jenn was having a few days with some babysitting Lexi, so Grandma came to the rescue. lexi came to spend the night and spend a day or two with us. WE HAD FUN!!!!!!! Lexi loves to color. so she colored her mask and we both added some sparkle. sparkle is good!
Lexi wanted a really cool lunch bag. so I found a pattern here . You can make this has lots of really cute patterns to download. have fun looking!
My Mother had to go and get her "dress" altered. So Mom, Lexi and I went to lunch at Red lobster. Lexi loves it there because she can COLOR! She ordered her lunch all by herself. no one helped her. She felt so grown up! good job lex!

While at the bridal shop, there was a bride getting her dress altered. She is getting married in December. she was so cute. I thought it was a great picture of Mom being married 50 years and a new bride getting ready for her adventure.

While Mom was changing. Lexi and I found some pretty hats. Isn't she a cutie!

we thought it would be a great idea to make cupcakes for her family. here is super cupcake froster - Lexi!

Here they are in all their glory! Lexi said they were very good!

We had a great time! Thank you lexi and thank you Jenn for sharing!!!
love you sweetie!
