At the shop last week, Karen Housner was doing quilt appraisals. This quilt my great great grandmother made. it was one of her utility quilts. she did bias binding, which did not happen very often back then she said. Karen felt she used fabrics from dresses or shirts because one of the fabrics was very faded. she also used white quilting thread to applique the flowers down. My great great grandmother was very poor and probably didn't have the money to buy the black floss. Thanks Karen!
It is a lovely quilt! And a treasure!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! And how neat that you have a quilt that your great-great-grandmother made. What a special heirloom!
