gunner recieved a learning thingy computer thing for christmas. Mom thought it would be a good idea if it had a cover. so Grandma went to work! He LOVES cars! so it had to be made with this fabric of course. it turned out nice. I was happy, mom was happy and Gunner was happy. we are all good!

well, we tried again for my birthday dinner. Lee called just before we were to go and said we can't come Mom..... why? on the way to the hospital. Zoe got bit by a dog. not sure how it happened, but these are the pics Lee sent me. Poor Zoe! that must have hurt soooooooo badly. and I am sure she was very scared till Daddy got there. oops! sideways pic! sorry.... but here she is with her stitches. 2 inside and 7 outside.

I can't wait to see you Zoe, to hear all about it. I think I might have to go to Zoe tomorrow and bring Popsicles!

Pincushion swap

hi everyone! for the last 6 months at redwork we have been having a wool pin cushion swap. the rules were we each had to prepare the base of our "pincushion", place it in a paper bag, put our name on it and a theme. then each month we would bring them back in. then we would look and see what was done. except the person who belonged to the pin cushion would have to leave the room. then we would place it back in the bag and the person would come back in. then another person would leave. well in December we finally finished. and everyone got to take them home. yeah!!! here are the results.

Hi everyone! I know a little late.... but I am here!!! every December we have a luncheon at redwork. this year I brought baked potatoes and everyone brought everything to go on them! yum!!! we also have a tradition of exchanging pin cushions made from found objects! here is one Jeanne made from a tart pan.

and mine - an empty dish, no cushion- nada - zip. I found my object, then promptly put it out of my mind. thought I was done. oops! next year for sure.

A House a Day!!!!

Oh my gosh, what am I thinking. making 366 3" houses! at house a blogger from Holland I think has issued the challenge. Make a house every day for a whole year! I hope I can get somewhat ahead so I won't get behind! LOL..... I shouldn't have to buy anything. I went to my drawer of pre cut squares. the biggest square I used was 2". this should be a great way to get rid of extra stash. wish me luck!!! isn't it the cutest little block? fun, fun, fun, and it only took a couple of minutes. my idea of a good thing.....
all the backgrounds will be blue and all the windows will be yellow. I might use the same yellow for the windows. but everything else will not be repeated - that's the plan!!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!! this year has gone by so incredibly fast! mercy.... But Bruce and I have been so blessed this year. many changes, all good. A reminder that the good Lord watches over us and blesses us. we are grateful. I have sooooo many things that I am thankful for. Mostly my husband and all my family. I am so happy when we are together. On this day, I am reminded how fast things can change. I look forward to the new year with great happiness. 2 more grands are coming into our family. one is a girl and in a few days we will find out what the other one is. I look forward to all the exciting things that will be coming our way. thanks for sharing a bit with me!

happy birthday Dad!

My dad's birthday was over the weekend. 78 years young! My Dad can do anything. If I need something done, he is my go to man. he can figure it out. When I was dating he would always intimidated my dates. now I know it was a good thing! LOL.... he loves his children with all his heart and loves his grands. he is a pretty easy going guy. but if he gets his dander up - watch out! he has a great sense of humor too. he is a good guy! I love you dad!!! Oh, did I say he was a good sport? He is a very good sport. we went to Joe's Crab Shack. and look what they do if it's your birthday!!!! sorry the pic is sideways. not sure how to fix that.

this is the road leaving Salmon. the road goes on forever! at this point is a ghost town called Gilmore. it's an old mining town. many of the buildings are still there. dating back to theearly 1900's.

this old building is completely covered in pressed tin. it was sooooo pretty.

was all intriging to me.....

so much history......

now someone has come in and bought the land. and they are selling lots starting at $3400! you can live amoung the old buildings. if you buy there you promise to not distroy anything. you have to preserve history. so there were new homes amoung the old. interesting.....

Salmon River

we took a drive along the Salmon River. we saw lots of fishermen out on the river. I just loved this part of our trip. soooo beautiful. enjoy

Wagonhammer

There is a place by Salmon called wagonhammer. not sure about how it got it's name. but on the road is a little place. water comes streaming out 24 ours a day. cold and pure. taste sooooo good. then there is a little stream that runs right into the salmon river.

we took our kids there when they were young. it's hasn't changed much at all.

Idaho Candy

while in Idaho, I saw lots of these. so I had to try it. candy made with potatoes. hmmmmm, it was OK. this is an Idaho spud candy, also has potato in it. I believe. soft center, chocolate on the outside with coconut. hmmmmmm, OK....

I guess I like doughnuts made with potatoes, rolls made with potatoes, and bread made with potatoes. candy - um, no.........LOL.......

Tower Creek

Bruce took me to Tower Creek when he took me up there for the first time many, many years ago. here is the road. it hasn't changed in all this time. everywhere you look, there are these towers. I think they are volcano vents. but it looks pretty cool.

Sites in Salmon

Unless you are family, you might not be interested in this update. but there are some pretty pics..... this is the house where Bruce lived while in Salmon. it was brand spanking new. they have changed a few things. Bruce says they have added on quite a bit. being a AZ girl I haven't seen much in the way of fall trees. so i had to take this pic of a fall tree in front of Bruce's old high school. it is now the Jr. High.

this is in downtown Salmon. I thought it was an interesting way to represent the town of Salmon.

I took this pic because they have different numbers for each county. do they do that in all states? anyway, small numbers!

this is on the bridge over the salmon river. right in the middle of town. this is only part of the river.

as we were driving around - maybe a block from downtown. we saw these deer. in town, in someones front yard! Bruce said as I was taking the picture, why don't you look to the right?

and I saw these! oh my goodness. sorry about the glare. but I didn't even think to roll down the window. I guess my city girl is coming out. now you know, I am a city girl! LOL.....

Class Reunion

One of the reasons we went to Idaho was for Bruce's 40th class reunion. we both have never been to either of our reunions so we were about to have an adventure. Salmon is right on the Salmon River up in the skinny part of the state. lots of really TALL mountains surround the valley. lots of ranching around the valley. their claim to fame is that Sacagewea was born there. The reunion was at the Sacagewea Interpetive Center. there is a little farm there, several statues and walk you can take talking about lewis and clark. very pretty. This is Wanda, Kathy and Pam

We Went on a Trip!

Recently we went on a trip all the way up to Idaho. it was a nice time for Bruce and I. very relaxing. from Mesa to St George no clouds, beautiful weather. just awesome. Once we started into Utah - past St George, we saw lots of mountains with snow. very pretty.

We stayed the night in Beaver Ut, when we left early the next morning, this is what the trip was like:

Every time we hit a summit, snow! Cloudy and raining. But once we hit Idaho, it all went away.

Loot Party!!!!

I told you a post or two ago about our trip to CA. what I didn't tell you was that Bruce was meeting with Vendors and doing the buying for the stores for the coming year. So this is how it works. the store owners are sitting around the pool, there was a soda bar, ice cream bar, tables with lots of goodies in the center. at the appointed time Bruce goes to a room and meets with a vendor. the vendor does his spiel, loads Bruce up with goodies. and then goes to the net appointment. sounds like hard work doesn't it? actually he came back to the room pretty tired every night. this was all day long for 2.5 days. and it was really hot. over 100 degrees. so we came home with lots of loot. here it is.... pssst, we already took out the stuff we wanted!

as we were driving home, we started talking what to do with all the loot. we decided to have a loot party with all the kids. yeah!!!! I had to work the day of the party, so I got home the same time as everybody arrived. so I gathered all the grands and said when we go in there are lots of goodies but we can't touch! later after pizza, we will get to fill bags of all the goodies. they came in and were so excited they could hardly eat their pizza. it was like Halloween but better!

so I had a brown bag for each grand. their name was on the bag. the rules were you could pick one thing then it was the net persons turn.

there was so much that the kids had a hard time picking, so they had to pick by the time we counted to 10. there were T-shirts for the adults, baseball cards - uncut, flip flops (size humongous) - all the kids wanted those. lots of loot. after everyone was done we brought out the x rated stuff! they sell everything at convenience stores. we didn't get a lot of that kind of stuff, but kids took it all! I must say rather quickly too! LOL....

Redwork at Olive Garden

Redwork met at the Olive Garden for September because Shop hop was going on. it gets soooo crazy during shop hop time and we didn't want to get behind in our pincushions! here are waiters. they did a superb job! Thank you sooooo much! Rita find the most interesting things. she has taken labels and she sewed them to some fabric and framed them. I love it!

Margie has been working on finishing last years project. they look great!

she also has been making little bags for some granddaughters. aren't they cute?

Cyndi won the door prize. 3 dish towels! Halloween ones too! love them.......

we had a great time. had me some soup and salad. YUM! thanks girls for a fun lunch. i can't wait to show you the pin cushions. they are looking GREAT!!!!!

While in Palm Springs i wanted to go to Monica's quilt and bead creations. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! if you go, be prepared to spend some time - an afternoon or longer. sooooooooo much to see. the first thing I see, is Frankie. oh yeah, the pattern came home with me and fabric too!

now a word of caution, DO NOT RELY ON YOUR PHONE MAP, OR GOOGLE MAPS, OR GPS!!! they will lie to you. take you way off course and you end up at another golf resort where it is gated and they don't want you there if you are looking for quilt stuff!!! call the store or go to the website and follow their instructions. you will be a happy camper. you will not start to panic and wonder if you will ever find the store let alone the resort where you are staying. just saying......

Recently Bruce had a business meeting in La Quinta, CA. very close to Palm Springs. WOW, we stayed at the La Quinta there. it's were the PGA is played. and the place is HUGE, JOHN WAYNE size, several golf courses, I don't know how many pools (I saw 4 I think walking around), the place was just beutifaul. every where we went we took a golf cart. the place was that big. and also it was very hot! outside our room....

in the last post I told you that we are trading churn dashes in TB. well, with everything going on in this crazy life I thought I would finish them all so I wouldn't have to think about them for the rest of the year. whew! got them done so i will give them out in our October meeting. I wasn't too excited in the beginning. I am not a huge fan of civil war fabric. really..... LOL.... - it does seem I am doing all of civil war right now. how did that happen? LOL.... ayway, I am done with these babies. I think it will be a beautiful quilt! thanks ladies!!!!!

Life has really been crazy. I mean crazy! and my beloved acer computer got sick. How rude! LOL.... anyway, life is still crazy, but I have my acer back. sigh of happiness........ so for the craziness august redwork club was the beginning september! crazy huh? ok, enough with the boring stuff on with the cool stuff!

monthly wall hangings!

Earlier this year Cyndi, Mardi and I went down to Tucson for the craft and sewing festival. we didn't find much, but we found this pattern by Kim Schaefer - Calendar Quilts. we found it at Zoe Trunk of all places. Cyndi and Mardi already had the pattern. I fell in love with it and had to buy it! so Cyndi and I decided that we would start this. well, we are a little behind and getting them done!!! I have July and august tops done, just need to quilt them. I have the top to September done without all the fusing on it. so that is next!

I found this photo I forgot to post on fathers day. it just makes me laugh. at our house we LOVE texas sheet cake. YUM!!! our little gunner man loves chocolate. he would eat it for breakfast, snacks, lunch, snacks, dinner and snacks! LOL...... well, he had his dinner, and a piece of cake too, but wanted more. mom and dad said no. so, when no one was in the kitchen, an alien came and grabbed some cake. we followed the trail to Gunner man! LOL.....

Comfort Food

hmmmmmm, comfort food. what does that bring to mind? food from your childhood? it sure does me. one of those comfort foods is the dinner - sauerkraut and pork. my mom use to make this for us while growing up. not sure how she did it. but I know it wasn't with a crock pot. I however, do use a crock pot! Sauerkraut and Pork

1 pork roast
1 jar of sauerkraut
1 jar of applesauce, refrigerated
corn, frozen
and home made mashed potatoes!

place roast in the crock pot fat side up. open the jar of sauerkraut and pour over the roast. taste a little of the sauerkraut to see if it tastes like you remember. yep it does! Yum!!!!

cook on low for 8 hours. now I put on the scentsy candles on because, well, it doesn't smell that well, and I don't want to stink up the house! LOL.....

when ready to serve, make the homemade mashed potatoes with plenty of real butter! salt and pepper to taste. heat up the corn. pour applesauce into bowl and sprinkle with penzy's cinnamon.

take roast out of crock pot and drain the sauerkraut well. slice up the roast - it will fall apart. serve it up! now when you eat, take a little of everything and take your first bite - heaven, memories of past dinners when you were little. comfort food!

I love bags. I really do! I love making them. this is the newest bag from me and my sister. the Midge bag. it was fun to make and not hard. Harry Potter Party!

I have so enjoyed reading all the HP books. and I have loved watching the movies. we have talked about going to see the last movie as a family. well, two of the kids couldn't wait. sigh..... LOL.... it was really hard for me to wait. anyway, when you have a large family it is hard to just get them together! so Jenn and I brainstormed on what to fix. Jenn fixed a roasted chicken and roasted veggies. so very good. I fixed butter beer - I loved it. it was basically gingerale, cream soda and butterscotch syrup. very good. I also fixed kale quills. actually these were really good. I left the leftovers on the counter and the cats loved the kale too! LOL....

also fixed pumpkin juice. hmmmmm..... not very good. nobody like it! LOL......

I had dumbledore's lemon treats - just lemon drops. owl pellets - chocolate covered peanuts. and jellie bellies - Bernie botts all flavored beans! went to cost plus to find the jellie beans and what did I find? some jellie beans that showed a pic on the back of the box. it showed ever color that was in the box. there were 2 blacks - skunk scent and licorice. a gold one - pencil shavings and banana. yellow - rotten egg and buttered popcorn. blue - toothpaste and berry blue. brown - canned dog food and chocolate pudding. orange - barf and peach. green - booger and juicy pear golden yellow - moldy cheese and caramel corn. white - baby wipes and coconut. and red - centipede and strawberry jam. let me tell you. they were true to the description!!!!!!

we played a game. you picked one jelly bean. I was ready with the camera. you popped in your mouth and I took a pic. we were laughing so hard. I can tell you what pencil shavings and canned dog food taste like!!!!!

the PANTRY!!!

I don't know how it happens. but the pantry seems to get crazy while we are sleeping. things get messed up. maybe it's the kitchen devils. you know, when things don't go right while cooking. it surely can't be me or bruce! anyway, we tackled the pantry. it looks pretty darn good. not going to show the the before pic. nope. not going to happen. just know, it really looks good now! LOL.......

our little gunner man turned 4 earlier this month! he was so excited to get presents and eat chocolate! even blowing out his candle was fun!

Now, one of my favorites things to do with gunner is watch madagascar. especially when the music comes on "I like to move it, move it!" we dance and laugh! I found a music birthday card with that music. I almost wore it out listening to it. it just makes me smile. well, it makes gunner smile too. Melissa said all the way home he sang "I like to move it, move it!"

while he was eating his cake and ice cream, he kept droping stuff of his fork. Mom said, lean over you plate. so then he leaned over the plate! LOL.....

Friday was Thornberries! Yeah!!! this time we met at Scrapbooks ETC. really fun. we had a whole room to ourselves! I worked on getting all my Christmas Twitterings traced and fused. and even started sewing on one of the blocks. I am about half way down with that block now! Yeah!!! Louise was working on her dresdan plates blocks. she is making a sample for a class.

Sue, got her top put together for her Thimbleberries quilt. she really lucked out. she found the border print - a crazy quilt type of fabric. at a garage sale. she has been looking for the fabric for a loooooong time.

sue finished a huge flower quilt. looks wonderful Sue!

hi everyone, our redwork group has decided to collect backpacks for school kids in Apache Junction. there is an organization there that collects school supplies, toiletries, just about anything for those kids and families. we collected 9 - filled to the brim backpacks. cyndi and I took them today. I will post more info when I get it. it's a great thing these volunteers do. thanks for letting us give a little and thanks to the redwork gals for sharing!

OK, things are a little mixed up here. and I am just making it worse. so, we will go with what I have..... sorry..... anyhoo..... I got to go up to show low for a week to visit my parents. they are so lucky to stay up there while we cook in the valley. I had the best time!!! thanks mom and dad. it rained every day while there. got really cold for me. low 60s and high 50s.

dad has gotten back to fishing. yeah dad! he caught 3 of these beauties at the beginning of the week. we had them for dinner on Sunday, just before we left. this one was 14 inches long. no kidding! thanks for sharing dad...

a couple of weeks ago, I started having problems with a tooth. it started becoming cold sensitive. not a good sign. poop! now I really love my dentist. but our insurance changed and had to go looking for another dentist. poop! well, I really lucked out. found a great one! I was able to get in and have Dr. Smith take a look. he thought the molar needed a crown. sigh. as he started working, he felt that I wouldn't need a root canal. it was close call. well, with the temporary, it became more and more cold sensitive. not good at all. by the time I got back to see have the crown seated, the tooth was really bothering me. so I got a root canal. whew, hate those things...... anyway, here is my new molar. haven't had a problem at all. thank you Dr. Smith!!! I am a happy camper....

Sewing day with Lexi

this past week I got to spend some time with some of the grands! yeah for me! Lexi and I decided we wanted to make something for mom. hmmmmmm, what to do? Mom loves to cook so how about a pot holder! good idea!!! so this is the first time Lexi has sewn. lots of straight lines and she did great!!! go Lexi go...... I had the makings for a chenille potholder and lots of chili fabric. I cut the layers for Lexi and sewed on the binding by machine. her she is roughing it up a bit. I think she really enjoyed that part.

and here is the final product all done. great job sweetie! Mom loved it!!!!!

well, I have worked at A Quilter's Oasis for a little over 5 years. the last of June was the end. I will continue to teach at the store and facilitate the redwork club. I find I am needed home more right now. It has been great. i really believe I have become a better quilter while working at the store. I have reached further, learned more, and bought more fabric! LOL.... truly it has been a blessing in my life. Thanks Kathy.....

Anyway, on my last day we got in this new fabric from Riley Blake! OH MY Gosh!!! LOVE IT!!!!! maybe it's all the pink in it. LOL.... anyway, had to have it. so I bought it so i could make the sample. sooooo cute...... it's a free pattern from Riley Blake. you can get the fabric from A quilter's Oasis. it's 42 x 42.
Next is the twister wreath. the original pattern calls for a 5" template. I think it will finish about 20". not sure. I posted earlier about using the 2.25. it finished about 12" - I think! this one uses the 10" template. with the borders its 66" sq. i love the twister. sooooo much fun!

Next is a table runner. I so love this! this is a close up of one end. if you click on it, you can see the beading on it that makes it sparkle. oh sooooo pretty.....

Fathers Day

We had a great father's day. I know a little late in posting..... sorry.... but at least I am doing it! LOL...... anyway, my dad and mom had already left for the mountains, so they weren't here. Glen, our SIL, had to work. so we missed him.

A Vicki Week!

every year my friend from Vegas and I get together for a week. it is just way too short!!! this year is was at my home. I think we are going to have to think about doing it twice in the summer. we have such big plans. this year we didn't get quite as much done. but I am still happy. so many fun things. thanks Vicki, for coming. its always a treat!!!

Vicki had this project for us. Witches feet. you can stick them anywhere. it looks like the wicked witch from the east from Wizard of oz. it just makes me laugh!
Vicki also brought us Halloween panels to make into wall hangings. THANK YOU!!!

She brought those glass blocks and we made it look like Frank!

we took a class at Scrapbook Etc. Terry came and took the class with us. we had so much fun. and I forgot to take pics..... we made this cute bird pincushion.....

we both have grand daughters. so we thought we should make baby stuff for dolls. here is the back of a little quilt

and here is the front. the squares were presents from barb and Mary from Me and My sister designs. I received these when I went to camp with them in April.

we started lots of doll clothes. little problem tho, our dolls were too big. so back to walmart to get a smaller doll.

we had LOTS of other stuff, and we just didn't get it to it. so now we have lots of projects to get done in the coming year.

Finished UFOs and stuff

here are some things I have been working on. this is a little Christmas wreath. the squares are 2.25. it is done with the itsy twister ruler. sooooo fun to make. it is a sample for the shop. This UFO is only a year old. this was a project Vicki organized for us. all done!

This UFO is several years old. when I was in Rippers we had a swap. purple, lime green and orange 5.5 charms. they had to be tonals. I added a few Halloween fabrics and used the pattern from Fons and porter's mag from last year. I really like the way it turned out. another one bites the dust! yeah!

Shop Retreat

one of my favorite times of the month. red work club. these ladies rock. show and tell is always big because these women finish stuff. beautiful stuff. they are very talented. This is Marty's quilt. I saw this one years ago and still think of it. after she finished the top, she tea dyed it.. she felt it was too bright and the tea toned it down. I just love this quilt!!!! this is Marty's civil war quilt. love it....

I love TB day. I am sure I have said that - a lot! but it is such a relaxing day. we get to sew, talk, eat, sew, talk and eat! Mother's Day

Well, I am only a week late posting pictures.... sigh.... I had a wonderful day. Jenn and her family needed to split the day with us and David's mom. so I got the morning. went out for breakfast - Yum!!! Another Lost Tooth

we had a customer come in the other day bearing gifts. she had these birds? they were had pieced. all different. I think there was a little over a dozen of them. she wanted to get rid of them -anyone interested? oh, yeah!!!! so I asked several people. a bird, a flower. lots of different answers. Another UFO done!

Well, another UFO bites the dust! this quilt is destined for a little granddaughter who is turning 8. So Jenn, keep your lips sealed! the story behind the quilt - several years ago, the Rippers were asked to host an AQG luncheon. Delva and I were co chairs. it was fun, but mercy a lot of work. Rippers then gave Delva and I gift certificates to thanks us for all the hard work. of course it was a gift certificate to the Oasis. so I went down and spent it! I added a bit more money to the pot and bought enough fabric to make this quilt. well, actually, it made 2! the other one is not quilted yet. but the top is finished. it is in the cue! LOL....... I hope this keeps you warm Lexi girl. it is full of hugs and lots of love...... Thanks Rippers!

What a surprise!

On our family picnic on Saturday, my Aunt gloria came up to me and said she had Granma T's machine in the car. and it was for me. I was expecting it, but didn't know when I would get it. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! it's in perfect condition. so very pretty! I looked up the serial number and this little baby was born in 1955. I am just just a little older. isn't she pretty? I want to find something pretty to sew with her.

Easter on Saturday

I love it when the family gets together! my happiest memories are when we are together. I was bummed when Lee had to go home because he wasn't feeling well. so he let before Trina came - ships passing in the night...... we have a little park close in our neighborhood. so that is were we got together. play stuff for the grands, lots of shade and the weather was beautiful! here is our family minus one. great kids every one. so very different and so much the same. I didn't get pics of spouses. I always manage to forget something. but please know I love each and every one!!! we had bubbles for the grands. they had soooo much fun....

Sting Rays at the Zoo

One of my favorite stops at the zoo is the sting ray area. so cool. very fascinating.

they just seem to glide so elegantly through the water......

they sure seemed to love Ashton. they would come to him and let him put his hands all over them.

Now I don't know if sting rays have a very large brain. or if they are very smart. but, every once in a while they seem to get a little frisky and flap the water very close to the edge, so who ever was close by would get wet. they didn't seem to do it in the center of the pond, only the edges! so guess who was close to the edge when they got frisky?

on Friday we all headed to the zoo. Trina and her family met us there. I love going over the bridge. because that means turtle and ducks. the little ones were so fascinated to see the turtles swimming and sunning...... of course I had to take pictures of some pretty flowers......

Gideon's owie!

all the cousins had so much fun playing together. laughing, running, crying, laughing some more! someone was swinging something and Gideon and the something collided. My mom and dad wanted to see Ashton and his family so we decided we had to go out to dinner! where you ask? Texas Roadhouse! LOL.... it is always so good there. Lee and Zoe were able to come too. Maddy and Zoe loved the peanuts. Zoe figured out how to smash the peanuts with her hand and she could get the nut out to eat! Gideon loved his food!

not sure where my other pics went. someday I will really figure this out! LOL.... we had fun, ate well, and enjoyed our visit!

Quilt Camp Time

I had the great opportunity to go to quilt camp this month! Cyndi got invited. she was able to invite a friend. (grin) I was her friend! Barb and Mary of Me and my sister have been having this quilt camp for a long time. they have been together for about 18 years. great group of women! there was Meloney doing the binding to this quilt. this is the back and now the front.....

i was working on a peppermint quilt. these are the blocks. too pickin cute!

Meloney and Rachel were working on pillowcases.......

at our meals we chose a animal napkin holder. then at every meal Carol mixed them up. so we sat with different people every time......

I finished block 2 of my BOM from the shop...... love it!

Now I have found a new blog! Your cup of cake! OH MY GOODNESS!!!! This is the best cupcake ever!!! we were licking our fingers good. smack your lips good! follow her instructions. she has you start with sifting your cake mix. hmmm, I did it, didn't think it would make a difference - it does! also she has you put the cupcakes in a sealed large bowl to cool. very important. these are so moist and yummy. I think I have to try every single recipe she has for cupcakes. they are to die for.......

ok, back to redwork...... Harriett had the door prize this time. and Charlene won! yeah! she took out this strawberry thing... hmmm what is it?

Superstitions and Dinner

A week or so ago, we went out to dinner with my parents. on the way to their home I had to take pics of the Superstitions! Snow! can you imagine? it's cold and snow on the Superstitions. This is when it was almost gone. but so cool. it just doesn't happen very often here in the desert!

we had decided to go to Texas Road house! LOTS of peanuts there. LOL... YUM! and bread.....

and our dinner. we all ordered the same thing. easy for the waitress.....

so good and yummy! did I get pics of us or my parents? hmmmmm, no...... bad picture taker. that's what I am......

but we had a very good time! thanks mom and dad.... love you lots....

A UFO DONE!!!!!

In TB this year we have picked 11 UFO's to get done this year. each one is numbered, then we draw a # each month. this is project #1 from January. sigh.... well, at least it is done. I am still working on February, March and now April. I don't feel really bad, because, by #11 I will be caught up! anyway, that's the plan, my goal, my wishful thinking? LOL..... anyway, this is how it started out. This is it finished! yeah!!! it's a pattern from several years ago in a McCall's quilting. a nice lap size and a Christmas one! another Christmas one...... but I do love making Christmas quilts.

Another glorious, fabulous, wonderful sewing day with the Thornberries gals! this is terry s. table topper. it was a sample for one of her classes..... this is a green and brown quilt that was WOW!!! with minkee on the back. Love it Terry!!!!

I have had Demi with me for a couple of days. she went to work with me and did all the dusting, folded lots of FQ's, we had lunch together and today she went to TB with me. Demi likes to sew, so we made 4 snap bags. one for her, one for her mom Jenn, and 2 for her 2 sisters. she did a great job! hope you had fun sweetie!

Thanks gals for such a wonderful day! I came home very relaxed. I appreciate that! our own little quilt retreat! just not long enough.......

Hi everyone! at the shop we have started a new BOM. it is by Pam McMahon. she has her own pattern line - Pieces from the heart. and she lives right by the store, so we get to see her all the time. I LOVE her patterns. the only problem is I want my quilt to be JUST LIKE HERS!!!! so I haven't bought any patterns yet. sigh...... Well, she has designed this new BOM and we are the first to try it out! we get a block each month - I think it's for 13 months..... with the fabric. This is the center of the quilt. I am working on block #2. I am loving it! thanks Pam for letting me have my cake and eating it too! LOL..... Lorene

Gunner Day!

I got to have Gunner Man all to my self! we had such a fun day! lunch at Mc D's with Poppa - forgot my camera!!! yikes, bad grandma! watch loony tunes on and off all day! and he was helping me straighten my sewing room. well I have been collecting some spiderman and batman t -shirts to make t-shirt quilts for some special people. Gunner found my stash! he tried them all on and thought they were for him. I let him wear them. they got dirty and of course he can't wear dirty shirts. so he went home with his own shirt! so now I have to find a better place to hide them. Redwork Club

hi everyone!!! it's was the 3rd Friday again! that means Redwork Day. I love it!! this is Mardy she has next month's block already done! go mardy! this is a close up of Susan's quilt that she has been working on. I can't remember who the pattern maker is, but it did remind me of Disney's It's a small world. it was precious!!!

Now, this is Charlene's farmers wife quilt. I have been putting this off forever. but after seeing Chalrene's quilt, I bought the book! I am going to do this....

She also made this cute baggie/pin cushion to hang by her machine. if you can see inside the bag, there are thread clippings! she is using it. good job!!!

and she made this little cathedral windows pincushion. so cute!

Last Day in CA

I can't believe this was the last day. it seem to go sooooo fast. Trina is doing sooo well. She is feeling better. the swelling is almost gone. she is able to eat better. I am so glad! so I corralled the kiddos into having pictures taken.

This is Jordyn and I.... dream big handsome! Logan and I! grandma loves you sweetie! keep up working on that homework!

Lowell and I. doesn't he have the coolest dimples? we were talking about them. somehow we decided that 2 dimples were dumples! I tried the whole time while I was there to take a pic of those dumples. every time I would try, he would cover his cheeks. so finally on the last day, we got! love those dumples!!!

Now Julia wanted to do some stitching while I was there. so she designed this. Can you guess who JB is? ah come, bet you can figure it out! Justin.... BIEBER!!! the design that is started around the heart are zebra stripes. this will become a pillow. Julia has a pink and zebra print bedroom.

Cupcakes! YUM!!!

OK, bad Grandma, I feel soooo bad! Trina and I stopped at a new cupcake store in Acton. We were going to only get one cupcake. we bought 8! then we were going to share with the kids, we didn't. we tasted the lemon one first and that was it! we had to taste them all.... Kind of expensive $2.75 each. and they were a little small. but oh soooooo good. sigh.... bad grandma!

Can I blame my daughter? it's all Trina's fault! bad Mommy!!! LOL.... Thank you sweetie for inviting me out. I am so glad that I got to come out to help. AND I am so very thankful that your surgery went so well.... Love ya sweetie......

Vasquez Rocks

Do you remember the movie "Flinstones"? it had John Goodman, Rosie O'Donnell, and Halle Berry. those are just the names I can remember. remember the crazy rock formations?
well, maybe you don't. I remember the movie wasn't that good. oh well.... well, this is where the movie was filmed at Vasquez Rocks. You can see the rocks from the freeway. I was asking Trina about it while running around, she said lets go. we didn't have a lot of time, so no walking around but I took some really cool pics.... while there, we saw artists all over the place painting different scences. I don't know if it was a close or what, but it was cool to see....

This is a pic of logan that I love. he wasn't with us, but this was taken another time. Isn't he a cutie? love ya Logan....

it was amazing to see these rocks. I can't even imagine the force that was happening when these rocks were jutting up and out of the earth. Nature is a mighty force....

Belle's School

I don't know this little girl. Belle didn't want her picture taken, so Belle sent this little girl in her place. She sure is a cutie!!! Trina and I one day took Belle to school. this is belle checking into her class. They have to trace their name. We are sooo very proud o Belle. Belle was diagnosed with Austism. since she has gone to this school, well, all I can say is wow! Belle communicates very well. she doesn't do well with lots o noise and big crowds. She is such a sweetie. We are sooo proud of you kiddo!!

Visiting and an Emergency!

Jenn and David came to visit everyone while I was here in CA. Julia had bought some curly hair extensions and was fooling around with every one's hair. Isn't Lexi cute? it looks sooo real.... here is belle and Julia. She loved the curls....

here is my handsome grandson Logan. He loves the outside! he is out there as much as possible. Well........ just as Jenn, David and Lexi were arriving, Logan was outside on his scooter. he fell.... he was in shorts. and of course his knee hit a rock just right! OUCH!!!

it was quite deep. took a big chunk out of his knee. Now, if you know me, you know I don't do blood. Logan was quite protective of me and kept saying, Grandma don't look. after Trina cleaned it up, she asked me to check it out to see if it needed stitches, OK, deep breath... breathe...... OK, look! oh owie!!! it looked pretty deep to me too. so off to the doctors they went. however, Mike's truck was in the shop, Mike had Trina's car, so Jenn and David took Logan and Trina! LOL..... No stitches. the rock took everything away, so there was nothing to stitch. also, being the knee he would have pulled the stitches out. that sounds pretty bad. so they cleaned it really well. I am sure that it hurt more than the stitches would have. through it all, Logan did just fine. very brave.

Jenn and family left Sunday after a big yummy breakfast. it was great to see them....

Miso Sushi

The night I arrived Trina wanted to go out to dinner, since she wouldn't be able to eat regular food for a while. her fav resteraunt is Miso Sushi. YUMMY!!!! I got tempera, but didn't take a picture. the plate was so very pretty. Oh, I had got my hair cut earlier in the day, and it's a little too short. so I couldn't do much with it. but here I am with Juia and Belle.

Well, I am in CA visiting my daughter and her family. I can to help. Trina is having some surgery, so I get to help out. Watch out kids! Grandma's coming..... after Trina picked me up at the airport, we came into the valley where she lives - and this is what I saw! snow on the mountains..... so pretty.... When she picked me up, she said she needed to go grocery shopping. I had forgotten how much food a family of 7 can consume! mercy...... but before food shopping it was time for a pedicure! Trina decided that she wanted her eyebrows done. this is before........

here we are getting starting our pedicures. it was a beautiful spa. the whole length of the shop were big windows, marbled floors. very pretty. the music was soothing and restful. Oh, I forgot to mention that Julia was with us.

the girl that was doing Julia's pedi was so nice. she kept saying she was a lucky girl, her mother does so much for her. it's nice when some else says things like that.

Now we feel so pretty! lots of cute pretty toes..... now we can shop! Thanks Trina!!!!
